Last week, we were truly honoured to carry out the funeral of a close family friend, and what a wonderful send off it was.

As a much loved local pick-your-own fruit farmer from Horam, there was only one fitting choice of transport for this remarkable lady… a tractor, proudly driven by her own grandson. 🥰

A heartfelt thank you to the family for kindly allowing us to share these special images. ❤️

Today is a gentle reminder that the smallest acts of kindness can mean the world to someone.

At Hailsham Funeral Service, we see how powerful kindness truly is, a comforting word, a listening ear, or a hug during the hardest moments.

If you’re wondering how you can mark Random Acts of Kindness Day, here are a few simple ideas:

🤍 Check in on someone who may be grieving
🤍 Leave flowers at a loved one’s resting place or for someone grieving
🤍 Offer to make a cup of tea for a neighbour or friend
🤍 Send a thoughtful message to someone who might need it

Today, and everyday, let’s look out for one another.

Sometimes the smallest gesture can bring the greatest comfort. 🥰

💚Children’s Mental Health
Awareness Week💚

At Hailsham Funeral Service, we understand that little hearts can carry very big feelings, especially after a loss or during confusing times.

Children don’t always have the words to explain what’s going on inside. They may show sadness through quietness, anger, questions, or changes in behaviour. This is their way of telling us they need comfort, patience, and to be heard.

This week we gently encourage families to:
🩷Listen without rushing
💚Let children talk, draw, or play out their feelings
💛Use simple, honest words about worries or loss
💙Remind them that every feeling is okay

Below we have listed places that can help support you & your children.

It’s good to talk.

Grief can feel heavy, confusing, and lonely, but you don’t have to carry it in silence.

Talking about the person you miss, sharing memories, or simply saying out loud how you feel can be a small step toward healing. There is no right way to grieve, some days you will want to talk and others not at all, and both are okay.

Let’s normalise that there is no time limit on grief and dealing with it in your own way is okay.

Just know if you need to talk, there is always someone to listen, whether a friend, family member, support group or someone you trust.

Your story, your feelings and memories deserve space, you don’t have to do this alone.

Below we share with you some local groups that could help support you.

Today on World Cancer Day, we remember those who have bravely faced cancer and honor the memories of loved ones taken too soon.

We are thinking of all who continue the fight and offer our support to families navigating loss.

Flowers 💐

A way to express love, sympathy, and remembrance when words feel hard to find.

Different blooms can carry special meanings:
Lilies – Peace and innocence
Roses – Love, respect, and devotion
Carnations – Everlasting remembrance
Chrysanthemums – Loyalty and honour
Forget-me-nots – Treasured memories that live on

Choosing flowers that reflect your loved one’s personality, their favourite colour, scent, or garden bloom can be a beautiful, personal tribute.

Some families choose “family flowers only” to keep tributes intimate or to encourage donations to a chosen charity instead. Others welcome floral tributes from friends and the wider community.

There is no right or wrong choice, only what feels right for your family. We will always follow your wishes and clearly communicate them on notices and service details so everyone can honour your loved one in the way you prefer.

Our recommeded florists are:
Bloomfields Florist and Pat's Flowers

If you’d like guidance, our team here at HFS are here every step of the way. ❤️

Personal Touches ~ Honoring Memories

At Hailsham Funeral Service, we understand that every life is a beautiful story waiting to be told. One of the most meaningful personal touches you can add to a funeral is a tribute or memory sharing, whether it’s reading heartfelt letters, sharing favourite stories, or displaying cherished photos and keepsakes.

These moments help bring comfort, healing, and connection to family and friends, turning the farewell into a celebration of a unique and precious life.

We have put together a list of other personal touches that can be added:

🤍 Personalised order of service
🤍 Videos
🤍 Traditions or rituals
🤍 Memory Table
🤍 Flowers
🤍 Chosen Colours
🤍 Readings or Poems
🤍 Favourite music/songs

If you would like support in personalising your funeral, our dedicated team are always here to help.
