This week we fulfilled our second big catering order of 2026, making buffet food for the Cossington Quiz Night. It was great to see our bakers working so well as a team and we were all very proud of the outcome. For the first time we introduced our cake platters - 72 pieces of 4 different cakes of the customer’s choice, cut into bite-sized pieces. Why just try one cake when you can try four? ☺️

Our micro enterprise Bakeability now has five outlets : our weekly cafe on Thursdays at Bawdrip Parish Hall, the monthly Soup Stop on a Friday at Cossington Village Hall, ‘Ben’s Bread’ on a Thursday, our cake making service and our catering service, both on Fridays. Our final profile is of our newest member, KS. K has made a definite impression on Stepping Out since joining us in January. She has a great work ethic and always does what is asked of her without complaining, but she also sees what needs to be done without being prompted. She throws herself in to all activities, whether it’s the gym, swimming or cafe with great enthusiasm although her favourite activity has to be cake making and decorating. She has a great sense of humour which makes her popular with the whole team and with our customers.

It's the last Friday of the month this week and that means The Soup Stop is open from 11.30 - 1.00 at Cossington Village Hall. We hope to see you there!

This week’s profile is of CS. C is well known to many through her work at the Bakeability Cafe, where she takes food orders and payment. She has a real talent for customer service, remembering people’s names and greeting them in a welcoming way. She has coped very well with the increasing business of the cafe, keeping a cool head and operating the Point of Sale machine with skill. She prepares cookies for the cafe and makes cakes to order on a Friday. C also works as a volunteer at the Purplespoon Cafe in Highbridge and attends Sounds Joyful community music sessions. She is an enthusiastic member of the gym and her swimming has improved hugely since she started regular sessions. She is a kind and thoughtful young woman who is a real asset to the group.
