🙌 WHY YOU SHOULD COME TO THE SLING LIBRARY 🙌

What's a sling library and why is it useful? You can buy lots of carriers online or at high street shops - why would you go to a sling library as well/instead?

🫶 Learn how to use your carrier safely. You've been given a secondhand sling from a friend, but you're not sure how to use it, and when you try it it feels uncomfortable and a bit unsafe. Our trained babywearing consultant and peer supporters can show you how to use your sling correctly (as sometimes even the instructions are wrong/outdated/unsafe - we're hoping this changes in the future!)

😍 Try a new style of sling before investing. Interested in ring slings? Wovens? Looking for a lightweight sling for an upcoming holiday? Try for FREE before investing to make sure the sling works for you and your child. Need to borrow a sling? We hire out slings year-round for a small fee so that you can use a high-quality sling without needing to pay full-price for it.

💪 Learn new babywearing skills. Want to find out how to hip carry? Back carry? The sling library is the perfect place to learn! Our volunteers are trained to show you how to get the most from your sling.

🫶 To support you to carry safely and confidently. We're not a business - we're not here to sell you a specific type of carrier, or get you to buy something you don't need (though we do offer discounts with certain brands if you end up liking that specific carrier!) We're here to help you find a sling that is safe and supportive for you and your child - and that might be a sling that we don't sell, or that you'll buy secondhand.
And that's ok. Our goal at the end of the day is to help you.

So do you need to come to the sling library expecting to buy/hire? Absolutely not!

✨INTRO TO WOVEN WRAPS WORKSHOP WITH OSCHA SLINGS - JANUARY 2026✨

Come learn all about woven wraps in this two hour session with our lovely consultant Rosa! Woven wraps are suitable for newborns, older babies, toddlers, big kids - one wrap can see you from the beginning to the end of your carrying days.

This sessions is suitable for both absolute beginners (never touched a woven wrap before) as well as beginner wrappers who may have tried wrapping and need a bit of support. You can bring your baby/toddler/big kid; however this session is equally suitable for expecting families! You do not need to own a woven wrap (but welcome to bring yours along too!) - we will have plenty to share thanks to the generous

Expecting or recently had a new baby? Our Newborn Slings Workshop is designed to showcase newborn-suitable slings (as not all carriers marketed as 'from birth' will actually give you a safe fit 😢) and give you a chance to find what style (wrap, pre-tied wrap, buckle carrier) works for you!

💚JAN 24 - WOVEN WRAP WORKSHOP

Want to try an affordable sling that will see you from the beginning to the end of your carrying journey? A woven wrap is for you! This workshop is for beginners - no experience needed! You do not need a woven wrap, but you are welcome to bring your own! Suitable for expecting families, newborns, toddlers, and big kids. Come along and play with beautiful wraps and fall in love with the versatility and comfort of a wrap 💃

✨Upcoming Newborn Slings Workshops & Sling Meets✨

🕍Stirling - Bridge of Allan Parish Church - Friday January 9th
🐎Falkirk - Forth Valley Sensory Centre - Saturday January 17th

These are FREE sessions where you can try on different styles of slings/baby carriers and find the one that works for you - and you can hire it if you want to take it home to try it! We can also check the fit of your own carrier for a £5 donation. Our sling meets are open to everyone - expecting families, new families, and families with newborns, toddlers and/or preschoolers! We almost certainly have a sling for you 🫶

✨TOP TIP TUESDAY - BABYWEARING FOR THE HOLIDAYS✨

One of the busiest times of the year is upon us - so how can carrying your wee one make it a bit easier?

🫂Regulation/safe space - this season is full of joyous celebrations and parties and changes to the routine, and as fun as this can be for wee ones they can also get easily overwhelmed and incredibly overstimulated. Babywearing can be a great tool to help slow down and regulate.

🤧Germ-free zone - this season also brings some of the worst bugs! Have a new baby, or a toddler you don't want licking every surface? Pop them in a sling! And remember - no kissing babies!

🙌Hands-free and transportable - need to pop to the busy shopping centre and don't want to try and navigate the crowds with a pram? Wanting to help with the festivities but need both hands? What you need is a sling!

Need a sling for the holidays? Our parent sling library Glasgow Sling Library will be posting out slings up to this Friday 19th December 2025! They have hundreds of slings and both we and GSL can help you find a sling suitable for your needs! Check out their page for their inventory.

✨TOP TIP TUESDAY - BACKPACKS, BUMBAGS AND OTHER BAGS FOR BABYWEARING✨

So you have baby on you (hooray! Hands free!) ... now how do you carry all of your baby's stuff?

FRONT CARRYING:
- A backpack or rucksack is perfect! Good storage, good support for your back as the weight is evenly distributed.
- For shorter trips out, a bumbag either underneath baby or with the pouch on your back. This will depend on your baby's needs though - some babies don't pack light 🤣

BACK CARRYING:
- Bumbag - you can wear it on your hips OR use it as a crossbody bag. We personally love both the and Babywearing Cosy bumbags, both of which are made in the UK!
- Crossbody bag - our favourite is the Wompat babywearing bag which is made of cosy woven wrap fabric and has rings that you thread the shoulder strap through. This means you can tie the bag round both you and baby! 🥳

Of course, we aren't anti-pram here and just because you're carrying baby doesn't mean you don't bring the pram - that's where the day's worth of essentials goes! 🙌

🎊SLING STATS - NOVEMBER 2025🎊

What did we get up to last month? Our Newborn Slings Workshop has becoming incredibly popular at Falkirk but is quieter in Stirling. If you know a family due their baby next year, why don't you recommend they come along to our free workshop? Babywearing is an excellent tool for the parenting toolbox!
