With 2026 approaching in less than 24 hours, you may be compelled to write a list of goals.
De-weed the garden, repaint the kitchen, achieve happiness?
But what does achieving happiness actually mean?
Happiness is an emotion, meaning it can't be a permenant state of being but something to felt (just like other emotions).
Setting 'happiness' as a goal may set you up for 'failure to achieve', leading to feelings of displeasure, disappointment or discontentment.

Instead of striving for happiness as a whole, look for what you can realistically achieve to bring you joy/grattitude in the moment.

A comfort zone is where you feel safe and comfortable I.e. eating the same meal in the same restaurant each time. To get out of your comfort zone may feel unsafe but this is where personal growth can happen. I.e. you may choose to try a new meal or new restaurant and get more pleasure than the regular meal and restaurant. You may really dislike it but learn it wasn't the worst thing in the world, meaning you are still safe. This may lead you try try other new things, knowing you'll still be safe regardless of the outcome.
