New Heart Health Project in the Tame Valley Area 💙

We’re pleased to share that we are part of the new heart health project that’s started in GP surgeries across the Tame Valley area, supported by NW Hearts Charity.

This project is for people already living with heart disease, especially those who may have missed regular check-ups or cholesterol blood tests in the past year.

Why this matters:
Regular cholesterol checks help reduce the risk of heart attacks and strokes and we don’t want anyone to miss out on important care.

What’s happening:
GP teams will be identifying patients who may be overdue a cholesterol check and will be contacting them directly to offer:

-Cholesterol blood tests
-A heart health review
-Follow-up care if needed

Appointments will be flexible, with extra support available, including:

-Easy-read information or different languages
-Support for people with disabilities or communication needs

If you’re contacted, please don’t worry, it’s simply an invitation to support your heart health 💙
Thank you to NW Hearts Charity for supporting this important work in our community.

It’s important to get untreated heartburn under control as a cancer prevention measure. If your heartburn symptoms persist for 3 weeks or more, you should speak to your GP and have it checked.

Self-medicating with over-the-counter or off-the-shelf products, such as Gaviscon or Rennie, should always be seen as only a short-term solution.

There’s a lot to consider when you find out you’re pregnant. 👶

From understanding the different tests and vaccinations available, to knowing what to eat and what not to eat, it’s important to have the information you need to keep you and your baby safe and well.

The best way to do that is to book in to see a midwife before 10 weeks of pregnancy. Midwives can talk you through everything you need to know, answer any questions and offer support.
