Turn The Page Counselling Ltd

Turn The Page Counselling Ltd Therapy for children, Teens, and Adults, face to face and online, 1-1 and groups. We work both inside and outside of schools at times that suit.

Turn the Page is an Independent Counselling Service working with children, young people and their families. We tailor the work for individual schools based on half, full day contracts or on a sessional basis. People seek counselling for many reasons usually at a time when they need some extra support, or someone to listen to them. Counselling can be a great way to express and work through life's c

omplications and stresses within a non-judgemental environment. Counselling has previously been offered to clients experiencing a bereavement, change/ loss, family separation, self-harm, phobias, depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, and in helping build self-confidence. We are a team of Counsellors trained in Person-centred therapy, drawing on Art/Play therapy, CBT, and Solution-focused strategies. If you would like any further information about the service please get in touch. Thank you,
Joanna & the team at TTP.

📚 May Book of the Month – “This Is Me!”

This month in our TTP Book Club, we’re celebrating This Is Me! — a beautiful, simple story with a powerful message: I am who I’m meant to be.

This book gently supports children to explore identity, self-acceptance, and confidence in who they are. It’s especially meaningful for neurodivergent children, reminding them that they don’t need to change to fit in — they are already enough just as they are.

At Turn the Page, we’re always looking for ways to support children to feel seen, safe, and understood — and books like this can open up really important conversations in a gentle, accessible way 💛

You’ll find this in our little library, ready to read when you’re next in the office 📖

📚 Book of the Month | Turn the Page Counselling

This month, we’re sharing a beautiful and powerful read:
Love Needs No Words by James Hunt 💛
This story gently reminds us that connection isn’t always spoken.

For many children—especially those who are neurodivergent—love, safety, and understanding are felt in ways beyond words.

At Turn the Page Counselling, we see this every day.
Connection might look like:
✨ Sitting side by side in silence
✨ Sharing a game or creative activity
✨ Following a child’s special interest
✨ Being present without pressure

Because meaningful connection doesn’t require perfect communication—just understanding, patience, and attunement.

This book is a lovely one for:
🌿 Parents wanting to better understand their child
🌿 Schools supporting neurodivergent pupils
🌿 Children learning that they are understood just as they are

💬 Sometimes the most important things are not said out loud—but deeply felt.

If you’d like support for your child or young person, we’re here.

The New Government White Paper for SEND – what does it mean?

As you will know the government published its White Paper last week outlining the changes which it proposes to make to the SEND system.

Having read the DfE documents and the accompanying Council for Disabled Children publication, I am now offering a free online/ video question and answer session for parents, to help discuss and explain the proposed changes with you.

The time and date of this event is as follows:

11am on the 18th of March 2026

Please email me if you would like the link; places are limited.

Can anyone recommend a venue for an end of summer term staff training day/social? Thinking table and chairs for a learning/speaker part of the morning, but somewhere that also then does a buffet and drinks afterwards.

🗓️Tomorrow the new SEND White Paper is published.

And while policies will shift, headlines circulate, and frameworks change…

One thing stays the same.

Children still need us.

They need adults who:
🫶listen when they say school feels unsafe
🫶understand that behaviour is communication
🫶see anxiety, sensory overload and shutdowns as distress — not defiance
🫶protect their right to appropriate support

⭐️For SEND children and young people, rights are not abstract.
🫟They are lived. Felt. Experienced daily in classrooms, corridors and homes.

As professionals, parents, and services, our role is steady and unwavering:
✨ To advocate.
✨ To interpret the system.
✨ To translate policy into protection.
✨ To centre the child, not the paperwork.

At Turn the Page Counselling, we will continue to stand alongside SEND children and their families — calmly, clearly, and above all confidently — whatever tomorrow brings.

To all the children heading back to school after half term tomorrow — we’re wishing you a gentle start, kind teachers, safe spaces, and adults who truly see you. 💛

To those who remain at home, and are waiting for the space that understands and supports them, we stand with you. 💙

If you’re feeling uncertain about what these changes may mean for your child, you are not alone. We are here to help support your child, to be the safe space for them and for you. Lean on us for as long as you need, and know that we will be in your corner.🤍

🤍Connection will always come before compliance. 🤍

When we work with neurodivergent children and teens, our focus isn’t on “fixing” behaviours or pushing school-based expectations. It’s about building safety first. Real connection.⭐️

Because when a young person feels understood — not managed — everything changes.

At Turn the Page Counselling, we:

✨ Prioritise connection over school compliance
✨ Take our time — no rushing, no pressure
✨ Follow special interests to build trust and regulation
✨ Create sessions that feel safe, creative and genuinely affirming

Whether that’s talking about gaming, drawing favourite characters, building with LEGO, deep-diving into a niche passion, or simply sitting quietly side-by-side — we meet young people where they are.🫟

From there, growth happens naturally.

Neurodivergent clients deserve spaces where they are accepted, not corrected. Where curiosity replaces control. Where relationship comes first.

If you’re looking for neuroaffirming therapy support in a calm, welcoming space at our office in Great Moor, Stockport, we’re here.
