1. Sauna & Ice Bath - Michael has both at home and tries to use them daily. They've become a huge part of his routine.
2. Movement - Some days it's the gym and weights. Some days it's just stretching or mobility. The older he gets, the more he realises it isn't optional.
3. Strength Work - He's not trying to break records, but all the evidence points to muscle deterioration as you age. He's just trying to stay strong. There's a difference.
4. Uthful - A year in and Michael takes Uthful every morning. One scoop covering 95% of the supplements he was previously taking separately. Properly dosed, and one less thing to think about.
5. Golf & Padel - Outside of the gym, this is where you'll find him. He loves both for the challenge of getting better and the social aspect.
6. Olive Oil - Sounds odd. But 30ml daily supports heart health, reduces inflammation and keeps joints moving. Now it's just part of the routine.
7. Proper Sleep - Blackout blinds for a dark room. Phone away. Room at a constant temperature.
8. Digital Detoxes - He spends a lot of time on his phone for work, so every now and again, he makes a conscious effort to get off it. The world keeps spinning.
9. Less Alcohol - He still enjoys a drink, but tries to be sensible Mon to Thurs. His metabolism and recovery at 51 are not what they were at 25. Annoying but true.
10. Eating Out - Travelling a lot means eating in restaurants constantly, so he tries to keep it simple: fish, lean meats, vegetables, and whole foods. Not always perfect, but he makes an effort.
Staying fit and healthy at 51 is about consistency. The small things you do every day that add up. These are Michael Vaughan's non-negotiables. What are yours?
