Our Apedale Community have put up their Halloween Decorations! 🎃🐈‍⬛✨

Megan, Vicky and Holly spent the afternoon hanging bunting, cobwebs and spiders, and were met with a glorious round of applause from their community as they all watched during their lunch! 👏🏻🥪

Their residents enjoyed Hot Chocolates, Marshmallows and Chocolate Ghosts to celebrate- and all watched Beetlejuice together in their Spooktacular lounge! 🎬🕸️🕷️

Our first spooky film screening of the month was a hit last week, where our residents watched the David Bowie Classic ‘Labyrinth’ ⭐️🔮🧌🎬

Jean, Margaret, Roma, Graham and Ken all enjoyed some terrifyingly good popcorn, marshmallows and gingerbread ghosts, as they were transported to the fantastical realm of the Goblin King! 👻🍿

What a fabulous film to start off our Spooky Season! Which terrifyingly good movie do you think we should watch next? 🎞️✨

Our ‘Van Gogh Sunflower Project’ continued last week on our Rudyard and Apedale Communities! ⛵️🌿

For this project, Megan and our residents are working together to create their own version of ‘Sunflowers’ by Vincent Van Gogh that captures all of the uniqueness and creativity that fills our home! 👨🏻‍🎨✨

On our Rudyard Community, Connie, Ann, Pauline, Andy, Nigel, Jane and Sandra designed some of the most beautiful Sunflowers we’ve seen so far with help from Megan and some of their relatives! 🥹🌻

On our Apedale Community, Fred, Ken and Keith created some wonderful colourful and abstract Sunflowers - that bring fabulous new pops of colour to our collection! 🫟

Connie, Nigel, Andy, Sandra, Jane and Fred all used watercolour paints to create their masterpieces, whereas Ann, Pauline, Ken and Keith chose wax crayons and felt pens! A fantastic array of techniques and styles from all of our artists, resulting in some truly beautiful designs! 🎨🖍️

Just look at how amazing everyone’s Sunflowers are all looking together - and we still have more to cut out and design! What a great project this is turning out to be…stay tuned! 🫶🏻✨

Last week, our residents welcomed in the Halloween Season with our first spooky craft of the month - Cotton Bud Skeleton Making! 💀

Our residents and relatives proved that they are BONE-afide artists - there’s simply nothing that they cannot do! They were masters of cotton bud skeleton making! 👩🏼‍🎨🦴

For Fred, Phil and Jean especially, this was their first time in our Activity Room - and they certainly soaked up all the creative juices that the room has to offer! We think they each did a grand job of joining in on the Halloween Spirit and unleashing their inner artists! 🎃🎨

Everyone’s Skeleton Cards are the stars of the show amongst our Cafe Halloween Decorations! There’s nothing quite like homemade decorations and crafts to really make the place feel like home! 🥹

We have some beautiful new additions to our Rudyard Memory book! 📕⛵️🫶🏻

Khadija sat with Rob to chat all things driving lessons, as they worked on Rob’s driving instructor-themed memory page! Rob was a brilliant driving instructor, who taught both of his son’s how to drive. I’m sure he’s passed on some great tips for Khadija too! 🚘🚦✨

Khadija also worked with Connie to create a colourful and magical memory page that capture’s Connie’s bright and smiley spirit, as well as her love for animals and Disney movies! 🦜🌈🎬

These might be some of favourite Memory Book pages yet! Vibrant, fun and SO well-themed to match each of your personalities and capture wonderful memories! It’s great to share these one-to-one moments with our residents to learn, chat, and work together to create something personal for them! ♥️✨

Spooky Season has begun this week! Our Activity Rota is action packed full of Halloween themed clubs, crafts and entertainment for the month of October - and we can’t wait to share it all with you over the coming weeks! 👻🫟

Yesterday, Megan set up a Spooktacular display in our Cafe with help from Rory - who is far more friendly toward our giant Spider, Cecil, this year than he was last!🕷️✨

Be sure to pick up a sweet treat at our Reception Desk on your next visit, and check out all the Halloween themed-fun on our Rota’s located on our Communtiy Notice Boards! 🍬📌

From one Artistic Project to the next… ✨

Megan and our residents have began our ‘Sunflower Project’ - where they hope to work together to create their own version of ‘Sunflowers’ by Vincent Van Gogh! 🌻👨🏼‍🎨🇳🇱

Van Gogh’s ‘Sunflowers’ is a beautiful and iconic symbol of beauty, friendship and the cycle of life within nature. We want to put our Springfield Manor Spin on the artwork to celebrate our core values of uniqueness, creativity and new-found friendships!💛

Last week, our residents began their project in our Activity Room, where Eileen, Elizabeth, Sheila, Ruby and Mavis all joined Megan to design their own, unique Sunflower and discuss all things art! 🖼️

Our ladies made an amazing start to our project, creating an array of watercolour and felt-tip flowers that we know are going to look picturesque when displayed together! We can’t wait to see what other Sunflowers are created in the weeks to come! 🥹
