Something I’m working on and didn’t realise I had to ‘til very recently 👇🏻

Actually taking care of myself.

Recently I’ve found that trying to listen to your own quiet self’s voice can be really hard. After a period of dealing with a lot of challenge in life that has dominated your energy, It’s difficult to even hear the gentle asks of your body, to recognise and turn down the volume on the other judgemental noise in there 🧠😬

I’ve half joked to friends that I wish there was a *more grown-up* grown up around to come and do The Things or tell me what to do next. Maybe it’s not even a half joke at all 🤡🫢

A moment (or many) of clarity here might look like sitting on the floor and being so stuck between going to the gym, practicing yoga, making yourself something to eat, having a shower, sorting out the dishes or finishing that piece of work because any one of those things would help you feel better but you end up doing none of them and exhausting yourself a little bit more through the deliberation and eventual upset of feeling so fatigued with trying to do the right thing *because* what you actually need is to offer yourself some softness, to take looking after You seriously, as though you’re looking after the little you in there/someone important and remember that you actually are 🌞

And sometimes you need to just go to bed and get serious about how much you matter 🌹

The good news is that as soon as you realise what’s happening the sooner you can start to:

•Notice this pattern in the moment.
•Practice being non-judgemental towards yourself however you respond.
•Remember that even though you’re conditioned with a thousand and one “shoulds” and labels that you always have a choice.
•Know that you can always slow down.
•Offer yourself the softness and care you seek outside of yourself, aka Love.

And more than anything, remember you can start over as many times as you need to 🩵

So here’s a nudge to pause and notice if you’re tending to yourself with real care or if there’s a small way you can offer yourself this today ✨🙏🏼

When I was a kid, I only wanted to do things if I felt I was good at them… That’s something of an understatement actually. I wanted to be the best at them 😬🤗

It has been a fairly recent revelation that life gets all the more joyful the more I let myself try, suck a bit, mess up more and have fun being new at things.

I often hear people explain how they can’t do X, Y or Z before their first yoga class, almost apologetically. But in these classes you’re here to learn, not to know. You’re here to practice taking care of yourself because you deserve to and it’s important. There’s no test. There’s no judgement. There’s no requirement to know anything, in-fact give up what you think you know and come along ready to let yourself listen to what your body has to say and maybe the space away from expectation and responsibility might be more needed than you realise 🤍😊

SWIM GUIDES WANTED for a few dates this year. You must have an Open Water Coaching qualification, an up to date water rescue qualification, first aid and be a decent swimmer with at least 3 years+ experience in open water all seasons. Swim Teacher qualification advantageous. EMAIL ENQUIRIES ONLY. No DMs please as I lose track of them.
