So today is another long day in Edinburgh, still at the clients premises delivering a Level 5 fire safety course, had great feedback from the delegates, then fly back to Stansted tonight.

Also one of our trainers is delivering an Emergency first aid at work course in Manchester for the same client.

Juggling clients requests in multiple locations can be demanding, so looking forward to a day at home report writing and ordering delegates certificates.

Some days you really have to put the hours in to help clients achieve compliance, a really early 4am start to fly out of Stansted Airport to Edinburgh to complete a fire risk assessment in their new premises and deliver a Level 2 Fire course tomorrow.

Today marks the 4th Anniversary of Elmwood Safety Solutions. I would like to thank many people, the individuals who encouraged me to set up the business.

The support of my family who supported me through the initial start up and gaining clients who we still have today.

My sincere thanks to my friends who send work our way, introduce us to clients and have supported myself and family.

We had a funny request today from a client designing a roof top terrace in Central London. We had to go and carry out a risk assessment on the furniture blowing off the roof. Unfortunately, the maximum wind speed we recorded was only 20mph.

Sometimes you get fantastic views of the London skyline.

We always love to support the local community and business, today we are carrying out a Health and Safety audit for a local primary school. We have worked withe school for 4 years now and their primary aim is Safety, their safety culture is no great to see.

We are always on hand to help them ensure everyone is safe at all times, with monthly progress meetings to ensure their safety culture develops but at a cost beneficial solution.

Are you paying 2 separate invoices for fire door inspections and a fire risk assessments?

If you are the responsible person for a premises or business owner then you should be carrying out both of the above.

Most companies will charge you to carry out both, as most fire risk assessors will only sample a percentage of fire doors and state its not their role.

We always have to ensure we keep our CPD up to date. Our clients expect the best information to keep them compliant with legislation. Just 2 online ecourses completed yesterday with CITB. If your unaware CITB provide several courses free online, no excuse to complete your CPD.

CDM, what do you know about it? Are you carrying out your legal obligation by ensuring your health and safety files are updated.

Whether your a contractor carrying out a project or refurbishment, a building or facilities manager doing maintenance work, there is probably some information you need to be inserting into the H & S file.

Maintenance and occupation, is the biggest part of the life cycle of a building. So therefore has the biggest input into the H & S file.

We deliver a CDM awareness course which is well received by all delegates who attend.

Today carrying out 2 construction site FRA's in East Tilbury for an energy company. It is great to see all the installation that's goes into creating our countries critical infrastructure to secure the countries future.

There was really great site management especially in regards to fire safety across the whole site. Makes the audit so much easier when everything is in place and how it should be.

Today is the final day 4 of 4 of a DSEAR course on line, ensuring our CPD is upto date and informing clients with the latest information.

Although it is time out of our working week, it always proves good sense to be prepared and trained for whatever we discover on clients sites. It has been a really informative refresher for our assessors to help clients remain compliant and safe at work.
