This , we’re highlighting a study conducted by Newson Research and published in a peer reviewed journal revealed that many women struggle to access high-quality menopause care after breast cancer in the UK - and many women who have had breast cancer don’t feel involved in their menopause-related treatment decisions.
An UK online survey of 1,195 breast cancer survivors revealed that almost all participants reported menopausal symptoms (96.5% physical, 87.6% psychological, 75.7% genitourinary). Yet many described poor access to menopause support, limited shared decision-making, and a lack of information and respect in consultations.
It’s essential to provide women with accurate information about their menopause treatment options after breast cancer and support them to make informed treatment decisions tailored to their personal circumstances – as per NICE guidance.
