Since I’ve first seen this guy, he has quickly become one of my favourites to look at 🤣 He is a black-throated tit, curious and cheeky!
How does this lovely tit relate to yoga? I’d like to think I’ve always been interested in nature… but it wasn’t until I started deepening my yoga practice that sparked a closer connection to it. The joy of seeing the art, the beauty and, very importantly, understanding (or at least attempting to!) the intelligence of nature. Being in awe at the level of intelligence that nature offers us. So much to learn, to marvel at, even to fear… and we lost our innate knowledge in our separation from nature which is sometimes overwhelming, to realise just how much of this magic we do not understand.
This is where yoga can happen. Slowing down, becoming quiet. Yoga teaches us to take a step closer to things we don’t necessarily understand, and to stop, look, watch and learn - not necessarily in an academic way, more like a feeling rather.
Have you ever taken a hardwood cutting to propagate? My ginseng ficus started an off-growth that I understood I needed to cut off, as it was part of the grafted root, not the top plant. After cutting the off-growth, I simply didn’t have the heart to chuck him in the garden bin 🙈 Instead, I put him in a glass of water, which became his home for weeks. Incredibly, he grew roots, a full system of them! I have now planted him to his newest home. And, just like that, I have a second variety of ficus as a houseplant (not to mention, for free). Magical, isn’t it? 🥰
Yoga often has accidental side effects, and for me, falling back in love with nature was one, if not the most important one of all. ❤️
P.s.: Can you guess what’s written on the mug? 🤣
