Moving into winter, I'm trying to implement much more rest and slowing down.
Working as a hairdresser for years, December was always the busiest time of year, and our bodies are designed to flow with the seasons.
Anyone who knows me knows it's been a gradual learning process for me 😆 but I try to celebrate the gentle changes as much as the big dramatic ones and as the years go on and I'm more in tune with my body I am learning to slow down. My partner helps hugely with this as he is ridiculously, enviously so, relaxed. It comes with ease to him and feels no guilt around it. WOW! That's a thing.
So rather than berate myself for not being there yet, I practice small changes, and gentle compassion that it's not only ok to slow down, but necessary (having been prone to burnout in the past). And it feels amazing.
How are you slowing down this winter?

Just in case you've neglected yourself recently 😉
It's easy to get caught up in the craziness of life. Kids, work demands, life admin, helping others. Food shopping, prepping, cooking, clearing up. Loads of washing, relentless housework, replying to emails, drinking enough water, exercising, making time for fun and hobbies, and finding space to look after yourself, especially when you need to look after others.
Remember, it's much more sustainable to pour from a full cup. When we are empty (and I know this from personal experience), we have nothing to give others and offer to ourselves and the world around us.
Take some time for you.
A quote I love- "If you don't have time to meditate for 10 minutes, you need to meditate for 1 hour."
You are important. Rest does not need to be earned. Looking after yourself is not a luxury.
