I had a really lovely final day of holiday before I go back to work tomorrow. I started with a beautiful restorative yoga class with , had a very satisfying few hours taking down all the Christmas decorations (I love it - I’m weird!), and then a fire and hot chocolate in the garden. Sharon’s class this morning had loads of time for reflection. My favourite quote from her: ‘January isn’t the start of the year, it’s the pause that makes the rest of the year possible’ YES! Love that. It’s really reminded me that January is not an enemy, and had me considering in what ways I will slow down more. One suggestion in her story was to sit and watch the river. This sounds really lush to me right now (clearly I’m tired after the Christmas holidays 🥴)

Happy 2026. I love New Year! There’s a lot of rhetoric against the whole ‘New Year New You’ thing, which I totally get. It’s not the best time to go hell-for-leather when you’re knackered after Christmas (for most people the festive period is not a rest, especially mothers), it’s mid-winter, dark, cold, and resting is totally valid and wise. However, I personally love harnessing that goal-setting energy this time of year and always find motivation to make some changes around what I’m eating and how I move. I also love to make resolutions, though they’re focused on adding things in, rather than restricting or taking away. This year it’s to make it to the climbing wall at least twice a week, to read more classics (Moby Dick has been on my shelf unread for literally the last 20 years 🐋🥴), to start as many mornings as possible in the garden with a cup of tea, and to keep making progress on that radical self-love ✊🏽 - I’ll keep you posted. What is everyone else channelling for 2026?

Winter Solstice. The northern hemisphere’s shortest day, and Earth’s pause before it takes its next breath. Before the light starts to return. It’s a time for quiet, calm, and reflection - but our lives can look very different in the often chaotic run-up to Christmas. Mine certainly does, but I still like to honour Solstice even if I’m super busy. Today I carved out the time to walk in nature, have a bath, light a candle, so I could give myself the proper space to sit with my feelings about this last year (a year which has been a huge challenge for my body and spirit tbh) That is the practise, even when it is hard. I invite you to soften and reflect too, and know that I am here doing the same.

It’s been a long time since I’ve posted (I needed a break, you know?) Ive still been teaching yoga in Stroud, and wanted to share my new offering, Restorative Fridays, running weekly 2-3pm at the beautiful Here’s the blurb:
A weekly restorative class to round off the busy week with an hour of gentle yoga, designed to soothe and calm both the body and mind. Starting with a grounding meditation we will move through a series of restorative postures, holding each for several minutes, for both a deep opening and relaxation. Expect gentle music and all the props. Feel your nervous system reset as you allow yourself to soften and open up, leaving you feeling rested and restored in time for the weekend. *Change of date* I’ve moved my extended Yin class to Sunday December 3rd, 4-5.30pm. See in Winter with a yin yoga class, intended to soothe and restore. We will move through a series of restorative postures, holding each for several minutes, for both deep opening, and relaxation. We will finish with an extended yoga nidra. Meaning ‘sleep’ in Sanskrit, yoga nidra is a guided meditation, that will bring you into a state of deep relaxation. You will leave feeling rested and revived. Book online (link in bio) 🧘🏼‍♀️
