S E N S O R Y T A L K !
So as I was pondering the aisles in my spontaneous late night shopping spree my eyes fell upon this beauty.
I instantly fell in love, I loved the bumps and details and let's face it - it's very esthetically pleasing 😍
I make a cup of tea to sit and enjoy. I CANNOT DRINK IT! 😩😭
The sound it makes as the spoon scrapes the bottom of the cup as I stir it, the feel of the clumpy rim, the feel of the material when it hits my teeth. I hate it! Sensory overload.
And I am devastated, as to look at I love it!
This has ruined my day - my expectations and what I had imagined was so so far from reality.
You may think - it's just a mug, a cup of tea, get over it! But to adjust from expectation to reality is hard regardless of how big or small something may be.
I am an adult, who has skills and a catalogue of strategies to deploy when things deregulate me, yet I still feel out of whack.
Imagine someone who dosent quite understand why a mug is having such an impact on them, or someone who dosent have the skills to regulate themselves to stop it from derailing their day.
Take time to understand you child alongside them understanding themselves.❤️
