I'm offering £40 Myofascial Release treatments (1 hour) in January for anyone who would like to release tension from the festive period.

I've written an article about MFR and emotions, here's a little::
".. In essence, this amazing vessel we occupy, our body, retains memories (not just our brain). Memories of stressful encounters, emotional events, stressful interactions, trauma, thoughts and beliefs we have about ourselves, all get stored in our tissues or cells. We are the sum of our interactions, thought processes and emotions we have throughout our lives. .."

If you wanted to find out more you can find the article here ❤

Join me in unwinding tension after you've collected your weekly running/cycling miles or gym visits. This workshop will feature a blend of SMFR and passive and gentle, yin-type poses specifically for runners, but the practice will be beneficial for sports recovery in general. We’ll use SMFR and hold passive poses to lengthen and rejuvenate the connective tissues. We’ll be specially targeting areas of tension for cyclists/ runners but the techniques are suitable for any sports, and also for non-sports people too. We will focus on the hips, glutes, adductors and hamstrings. This will be a great practice if you feel stiff from exercise as it provides a 'reset' opportunity for the tissues. Using self myofascial release techniques in conjunction with running or any sports, has been shown help to lessen injury.

This workshop will give you the opportunity to explore through the direct experience of interoception, and delving into your inner landscape areas of tension. Using therapy balls you will be guided to release fascial tissue. The effects are instant and you will experience changes in your body after just one session. Book with Yoga Bodhi, Bath.

My latest article on fascia and emotions - "Our Issues Are In Our Tissues"

In terms of published research and information in general, there seems to be more emphasis on fascia and its anatomical function and composition and its role in posture. In this article I want to focus on how emotions connect with the fascia. Fascia (our connective tissue) has been with us from the....

❤️🙏☮️

“This body of mine will disintegrate, but my actions will continue me… If you think I am only this body, then you have not truly seen me. When you look at my friends, you see my continuation. When you see someone walking with mindfulness and compassion, you know he is my continuation. I don’t see why we have to say “I will die,” because I can already see myself in you, in other people, and in future generations.
Even when the cloud is not there, it continues as snow or rain. It is impossible for the cloud to die. It can become rain or ice, but it cannot become nothing. The cloud does not need to have a soul in order to continue. There’s no beginning and no end. I will never die. There will be a dissolution of this body, but that does not mean my death.
I will continue, always” Thay (2016)

The International Plum Village Community of Engaged Buddhism announces that our beloved teacher Thich Nhat Hanh has passed away peacefully at Từ Hiếu Temple in Huế, Vietnam, at 00:00hrs on 22nd January, 2022, at the age of 95. We invite our global spiritual family to take a few moments to be still, to come back to our mindful breathing, as we together hold Thay in our hearts in peace and loving gratitude for all he has offered the world.

Love the applications of yoga. A recent study about the benefits of reducing stress based anxiety and immunity during COVID-19

Yoga Practice Is Beneficial for Maintaining Healthy Lifestyle and Endurance Under Restrictions and Stress Imposed by Lockdown During COVID-19 Pandemic

Uncertainty about Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and resulting lockdown caused widespread panic, stress, and anxiety. Yoga is a known practice that reduces stress and anxiety and may enhance immunity. This study aimed to (1) investigate that including Yoga in daily routine is beneficial for physical and mental health, and (2) to evaluate lifestyle of Yoga practitioners that may be instrumental in coping with stress associated with lockdown.

The non-Yoga group was more likely to use substances and unhealthy food and less likely to have good quality sleep. Yoga practitioners reported good physical ability and endurance. Yoga group also showed less anxiety, stress, fear, and having better coping strategies than the non-Yoga group. The Yoga group displayed striking and superior ability to cope with stress and anxiety associated with lockdown and COVID-19. In the Yoga group, participants performing meditation reportedly had relatively better mental health. Yoga may lead to risk reduction of COVID-19 by decreasing stress and improving immunity if specific yoga protocols are implemented through a global public health initiative.

Transform tension into bliss: A full body adventure

There is a wonderful Chinese proverb that says:

“Tension is who you think you should be. Relaxation is Who You are.”

Tension comes about from the way we meet and interface with our outer and inner ‘worlds’. This workshop will give you the opportunity to explore through your direct experience of interoception; delving into your inner landscape areas of tension.

We’ll use therapy balls to both map and access tension and you will be guided to transform tension within fascial tissue. We will use Self Myofascial Release techniques for a whole-body approach. We will then move into grounding restorative poses and rest in spaciousness. Feel more aligned, grounded and at ease.

This workshop is a wonderful self-care practice.
The effects are instant and you will experience changes in your body after just one session.
(SMFR) compliments a yoga practice, enabling you to deepen your practice and develop an intuitive understanding of your own body.

All are welcome. This workshop is suitable for beginners as well as well-seasoned practitioners.
