International Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember the dead. Fight for the living.

Today we remember all those who lost their lives, or were injured, simply doing their jobs and we recommit to fighting for every worker’s right to be safe at work.

From the Covid inquiry hearings highlighting the risks faced by frontline workers, to the ongoing danger of asbestos in schools, hospitals and public buildings, the need for strong protections – and strong unions – remains as urgent as ever.

At 11am, we will join others across the country in a minute’s silence to remember the dead and stand up for the living.

Migrant workers in the care sector are exploited by unscrupulous employers, with the threat of deportation used to silence them.

This Friday 24 April, members are coming together to support friends and colleagues from overseas who keep our care services running. Whether you are a migrant worker, a care worker, or neither, this day of action is for everyone.

Care would not function without migrant workers. It is time they are treated fairly. 👩‍⚕️🌍
