Over and over again I hear patients say things like:
“My veins are so bad there’s nothing you can do with them”
“I won’t be able to have any treatment except surgery because my veins are so bad”
No matter the starting point - there is always something that can be done. It’s not an overnight fix and may take several treatments and multiple visits, but with commitment and patience we can make significant differences.
This chap is still “work in progress” but we have already seen a tremendous improvement in the cosmetic appearance of these veins and also in the heaviness and discomfort associated with them.
Varicose veins affect around 60-70% of the population and the majority of these fall into the lower clinical classification of disease meaning that treatment in the NHS is not possible.

Endovenous laser ablation (EVLA or EVLT™) is a method of closing off the refluxing vein and is an alternative to the more traditional surgical procedure for treating varicose veins.
This type of laser treatment of varicose vein is now accepted by the National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) as a safe and effective treatment for varicose veins.
The procedure is performed under a local anaesthetic which means you will be awake throughout.
Most patients are able to return to normal activities and work within just a day or two.
The results of laser ablation have now been established over approximately 20 plus years and it appears that less than 10-15% of patients will suffer from recurrent varicose veins.
