I didn’t know about hypnobirthing when I was pregnant with my daughter… and honestly, knowing what I know now, I really wish I had.
After conceiving through IVF after experiencing 6 miscarriages, my pregnancy felt heavy with anxiety. I was constantly waiting for something to go wrong. Then came hyperemesis, severe acid reflux, and gestational diabetes.
I was induced at 38 weeks during lockdown, and my partner wasn’t allowed into the hospital with me until I reached delivery suite. It felt lonely, overwhelming, and completely out of my control.
I truly believe that if I had known about hypnobirthing, it would have supported me so much, especially as my birth ended in an emergency caesarean section.
Here is how it would have helped me:
✨ Given me tools to manage fear and anxiety after loss and IVF
✨ Helped me understand induction and my options, so I felt informed and empowered
✨ Taught me breathing techniques to stay calm and grounded
✨ Supported me in advocating for myself when plans changed
✨ Reduced the sense of panic when things became unexpected
✨ Helped me feel more in control, even during a caesarean
✨ Supported a calmer, more positive postnatal recovery
Birth doesn’t have to be perfect to be powerful but feeling prepared makes all the difference!
If my story resonates with you, or you are pregnant and want to feel calm, confident and in control no matter how your birth unfolds…
