A beautiful end to the year and a fitting end to a beautiful era.

144 simple capsules delivered to a threepeat client and a third beautiful keepsake frame ordered as well. 💕

I have loved my role in placenta encapsulation over the last 8+ years, and I have met so many wonderful families as well. I will definitely miss that part. ♥️

Thank you to everyone who has chosen me to encapsulate your placenta over that time. It has been an absolute honour to play a part in your postpartum journeys, and you have all given me so much joy. 💕

Maybe one day I will offer encapsulation again, but, for now, it’s been real.

For all clients and any one else who’s experienced birth trauma, February 6th is the closing date for this inquiry. I’ve added a link in my bio where you can have your day and share your experience.

I’ve been doing this job for 7.5 years, and never have I been more incensed at the state of maternity affairs. NUH: a trust that constantly over promises and under delivers seems to be the current tagline.

It’s been years of talk and not a lot of action. Who else remembers the big relaunch celebration of a full home birth service to coincide with the 70th anniversary of the NHS filled with fanfare and cupcakes? I do and again that fell way short of the mark and nothing changed in reality. I was hopeful recently that after the last co-production meeting that we would see a change, that families would not have their birth options ripped away from them and less people would have to be traumatised by their experiences of a birth they didn’t want due to being forced to birth in an environment they didn’t want or a scenario that wasn’t their choosing but they felt left with no other option because the alternative was even more terrifying.

Sadly once again it’s all talk, and not much action. And when you’re claiming a lack of interest from midwives to join the new home birth team when I saw only passion and enthusiasm from midwives keen to apply, it begs the question does management actually want to honour and uphold birthing rights or do they just want to pay lip service to it and offer token gestures that amount to little? Building hopes up just to have them dashed.

I’m rarely one to express such anger on this space, but I have held one too many grieving mother and father through their unnecessary trauma to remain silent(something a system that views people as merely a number to get through the conveyor belt and spit out the other end doesn’t see or appear to care about)then there is no option but to speak up. From a job I used to love because I got to see families fulfil their dreams and work with wonderful midwives to a job that’s made me ill as I watch an increasing number of clients and others come through the system broken instead of elated you know there’s something that has gone fundamentally wrong. A worthwhile event to book onto if you’re free. Come along and share your experiences. Speak up about what could be done better/different or what went well and help shape maternity care in your local area. Nottingham and Nottinghamshire families deserve the best care possible, and you could be part of the change. ❤️

Making sunshine for my insides while the sun shines outside.

How are you managing with the resurgence of heat? I went through a summer pregnancy where the weather was hot hot hot for 3 solid months right at the end. 🥵 So if you’re in your final trimester I fully empathise with you right now if you’re feeling zapped of energy and are struggling even more so than usual to get some sleep. ❤️

This salad is one of the best I’ve ever tasted. It’s from

Super quick and easy to make; involves chopping up cucumber, tomatoes, red onion and parsley. Toss that with your chickpeas and feta. The original recipe had vegan feta, but I used regular feta.

It was so good at that point I debated stopping there, but I went ahead and added the yummy vinaigrette of balsamic, olive oil, lemon juice and mustard, Salt and pepper.

Super delicious.

What’s some of your go to foods on a hot day?

With the sunshine finally getting to put in an appearance here, it’s a fab time to try these delicious Key Lime Popsicles. Recipe from and a link to the recipe in bio.

✔️ lime juice

✔️ raw honey or maple syrup

✔️ coconut milk

✔️ coconut oil

✔️ avocado (giving that lovely green colour)

✔️ vanilla

✔️ unrefined sea salt

Creamy, sweet enough to not make your toes curl, but with enough tartness to leave you feeling totally refreshed.

One of the best things I’ve made this year.

A beautiful little package this week. I do love when clients add on balm. I had one client repeat orders for it as it was the only thing that helped with an eczema type rash on her little ones face. I’ve had other clients use it to soothe healing tattoos. It’s got so many uses even without any placenta oil to mix in, but the placenta oil just adds extra benefits.

Nine year ago yesterday we welcomed our second daughter at home, all 10lb 1oz of her. I can remember it like it was yesterday. ❤️ Her big sister was demanding for the baby to be passed out of the pool to her right away. 😂

So yesterday was the day of the home birth listening event. It was a time of releasing big emotions and grief, of feeling heard, of honest vulnerability, and of coming together for the common goal of seeing a proper, round the clock, sustainable home birth service for our area.

I will be honest and say I wasn’t sure what to expect or how I’d come away feeling, but I left lighter in my soul for the experience and with the glow of optimism. There was a genuine excitement palpable in the space, and I look forward to the NUH team sharing more with us in the near future.

When other events come up, I would highly recommend that you book in and help to shape your local service into the very best it can be because there are some amazing things in the pipeline.❤️
