Breast Cancer Awareness Month – Day 3 💕

My diagnosis was HER2 positive right ductal breast cancer that had already spread to my lymph nodes.

And I’ll be honest - I never used to check my b***s. It just wasn’t something I thought about.

The wait for results is unbearable - your mind instantly goes to the worst case scenarios. When my results came back, I was told I had stage 3 breast cancer and my tumour was around 8cm, about the size of a tennis ball - how did I miss that??!!

Because it was so big, I needed chemotherapy before surgery. My treatment plan began with 8 rounds of chemo — the first 4 being EC, also known as the red devil (yes, it really is BRIGHT red!).

2023 was supposed to be a year of celebration - our 20th wedding anniversary. My husband and I had planned a trip to Santorini, but my Oncologist told me to cancel everything, as treatment had to begin straight away.

Instead, we spent a spa weekend together - which was wonderful ❤️

When we arrived at the hotel, they asked if it was a special occasion. I explained we were there instead of Santorini, and why and they upgraded us for free to the honeymoon suite!

The room waa enormous and beautiful - I was so happy & excited!! We had such a wonderful weekend ☺️

Breast Cancer Awareness Month - Day 2 💕

I’m not going to make all of my posts so detailed – but here’s a little timeline of my finding my lump.

📅 14th May – I found a lump in my right breast while in the shower
📅 15th May – I went to the doctor
📅 24th May – At the breast clinic, age 43, I was told there and then they were certain it was breast cancer

It would be another 7 weeks before my treatment began.

Those weeks were filled with:

📞 Waiting for phone calls (& also dreading them!)
📝 Appointments, tests & scans
💌 Sharing my diagnosis with family and friends, who were so supportive
💕 Waiting, waiting and more waiting - Very often the worst part!!!

I also told my students via my WhatsApp group - the kindest messages and support came flooding in (over 100!).

The first 2 weeks after my diagnosis I didn’t teach and did wonder at many points if I could go back. But the words of encouragement forced me along.

My first day back teaching - did I feel nervous? Absolutely. I felt sick and shaky at the start. But the support from my students that day - and every day since - has been nothing short of phenomenal.
Looking back, I realise they were probably just as nervous as me, wondering what to say to someone who had just been diagnosed with cancer.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month 💕

As many of you know, in 2023 cancer suddenly - and quite literally — took over my life when I was told I had breast cancer.

It tested me, changed me, and taught me so much.

This October, I’ll be sharing one photo each day from my breast cancer journey.

My aim is:
🌸 To raise awareness
🌸 To encourage you to check yourself regularly
🌸 To offer support and remind anyone going through cancer that you are not alone

Today's picture is what I used to announce my diagnosis to my Yoga With Hayley page.
It was taken at a family BBQ and I was in the awful period of waiting for more results and to meet my Oncologist.

✨ Chair Yoga - A Lifeline for Me, and Could Be for You Too ✨

It was an intimate space, giving us time to share experiences safely and openly 💛

We explored how simply noticing what’s happening in the body and mind can give us the chance to take action and respond differently.

🌿 The Calm Within - A Workshop for Stress, Anxiety & Overwhelm 🌿

I’ve created this 3-hour workshop for anyone feeling stressed, anxious, churned up, overwhelmed, uneasy, not quite right.... the list could go on and on.

This workshop is very close to my heart, as it has grown from my own cancer experience. During that time, stress built up in so many ways - in my body and in my mind. My shoulders would creep up, my back would tighten, my thoughts would race, and I struggled with insomnia and more - much of this was also a side effect of treatments.

Over time, I discovered that small, simple tools can make a huge difference.

✨ In this workshop, I’ll share some of the practices that helped me (and still do). You’ll leave with a Calm Toolkit full of ideas you can use anytime - at home, at work, travelling, waiting for results, standing, seated - whenever you need them for support.

✨You’ll also receive a Yoga Nidra recording for deep relaxation and a calming music playlist.

💜 This is all about practical, gentle, life-changing tools from my own experience, designed to help you feel supported, safe, and calmer in your body and mind.

A small group experience, with only 2 spaces remaining, so you’ll get lots of time & space.

🌟 What a fantastic day I had on Saturday at the Day Retreat! 🌟

Thank you so much to everyone who joined me - each one of you made the day so special 💕

We explored so much – different styles of yoga, from energetic to deeply relaxing, Lion’s Breath to energise us, calming breaths to help us focus and let go, and so much more - with plenty of giggles and chats in between 💛

I have lots of videos and pictures, so I’ll be uploading them very soon 💕

The next retreat is pencilled in for Saturday 7th February – many of my lovely students want to attend another retreat, and I’m just checking if this date works for the majority before confirming – let me know if you’d like to join us 😊
