With more pressures than ever for today's young people, knowing how to spot the signs of mental health struggles and offering the right support can be life-changing.

Our new First Aid for Youth Mental Health course equips adults with the practical tools and knowledge to support young people aged 12 - 18. Ideal for teachers, youth workers, coaches, and anyone in a role involving regular interaction with young people.

One-day training takes place in Royal Wootton Bassett on Monday 3rd November, 9.30am until 4pm. Gain a Level 2 Award, valid for three years. Cost is £85+vat each.

We're very pleased to introduce Kirsty - the newest member of our Health & Safety team.

With 20 years' experience running her own dance school, Kirsty is bringing her organisation, energy, and creativity to the new role supporting our consultants and customers.

Joining Safewell has given Kirsty the opportunity to embrace a better work-life balance, giving her more family time with her three kids, and Henry, her crazy Cavapoo 🐶.

She still finds time to keep her toes pointed, however, as she continues to teach children's dance classes twice a week 🎶

Wearing a tight fitting mask at work? Beards and stubble could be putting you at risk.

It's not just about passing your face fit test - it's about staying protected every time you wear your RPE.

Tight-fitting masks need to form a proper seal against the face to work. Even a bit of stubble can break that seal, allowing harmful substances to slip through.

That's why the HSE says workers must be clean shaven in the area where the mask fits.

Your mask is only effective if it fits properly.

Got a beard for personal or cultural reasons? There are alternative options like powered hoods or helmets that don't rely on a tight seal.

When our Health & Safety consultant, Michelle, visited Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance Charity last week, it turned into a great morning for Aleks, our Year 10 work experience student.

Not only did Aleks get a close-up look at the helicopter - and watch it take off - he also had the chance to get stuck into a real-world project, helping review how we put together a risk assessment for a public event.

A fantastic way to round off Aleks' week with us, getting a taste of what Health & Safety looks like in action 🚁🚁🚁

We’re always pleased to support local students at Safewell, doing our bit to help give an insight into the world of work. This week, we’re welcoming Aleks, a Year 10 work experience student from our local academy, who’s with us to learn about the many sides of Occupational Health & Safety.

Today, Aleks watched a Face Fit Test in action – and then took part in one himself, guided by our Occupational Health team member, Lucy.

We've plenty of other activities planned for Aleks this week, ensuring a busy schedule of hands-on experience.

With temperatures rising, it's a good reminder for all employers to check their hot weather procedures. There's no legal maximum working temperature, but we all still have a duty to keep staff safe and comfortable at work - especially in high-risk environments or for those working outdoors.
