Emergency Alert Test
On Sunday 7 September 2025 at 3pm the Government will send a test Emergency Alert to mobile phones across the UK in the second national test of the system.
The test is part of plans to strengthen the country's preparedness, to make sure the alert works sufficiently and to help familiarise the public with the alerts.

Some victims of domestic abuse own a concealed phone or tablet device. Ahead of the Emergency Alerts Test on 7 September, the domestic abuse sector and others are encouraging anyone who may have one to opt-out of Emergency Alerts or to make sure their phone is turned off.

There is more information on Gov.uk about how victims and anyone at risk can opt out of the alert Opting out of emergency alerts - GOV.UK

During the test, mobile phones will vibrate and make a loud siren sound for roughly ten seconds, even if they are set to silent. A message will also appear on phone screens, making it clear the alert is only a test.

Find out more about the alert here About Emergency Alerts - GOV.UK.

Be safe.

There is a yellow thunderstorm warning across much of England for the next 24 hours or so - and an amber warning for London and the South East until 11:00am tomorrow.

Hot weather and thunderstorms can trigger symptoms in those who suffer with lung conditions such as asthma.

If you notice the weather makes your symptoms worse and you are needing to use your inhaler more frequently, please talk to your pharmacist, contact your GP or NHS 111.

The Pharmacy First scheme allows individuals to seek professional advice and treatment for a variety of common illnesses and conditions without needing a GP appointment. This is available to people aged over 1 year old in some areas, making healthcare support more accessible. 💊

Conditions they can offer prescription medicine for are:

• impetigo (aged 1 year and over)
• infected insect bites (aged 1 year and over)
• earache (aged 1 to 17 years)
• sore throat (aged 5 years and over)
• sinusitis (aged 12 years and over)
• urinary tract infections (UTIs) (women aged 16 to 64 years)
• shingles (aged 18 years and over)

If you’re unsure whether your symptoms can be treated this way, your local pharmacist is the first point of contact. It’s quick, convenient, and effective for non-urgent health issues.
