So recently at Bright day counselling I have seen an increase in people chosing therapy as a way to explore their respective addictions … Tonight I had the privilege of attending a narcotic anonymous meeting for the first time and felt compelled to share my experience!
I had no idea what to expect walking into a room full of people I’d never met before!! How would I be received? What do I say ? How do I act? or even simply where do I sit ?
All of these worries and thoughts were quickly gone as I was welcomed by each and every one of these “strangers” an instantly put at ease.
Each person in the room had the opportunity to share their incredible journeys, they each shared with brutal honesty and candid reflections their experiences of addiction .
whilst each journey was unique the room was held together by a collective understanding and shared experiences that blew me away. Somebody sober for 10 days was celebrated just a proudly as somebody with 7 years sober.
Words can’t really do my experience justice , but if you are somebody worried about addiction give it a try , anonymity, non judgmental space are guaranteed , there are 100 s of meetings held every day ! They really are amazing!
Give me a shout if you need any more info
