Think respiratory conditions like bronchiolitis are just winter illnesses? Then you'll be surprised to read the story of Caspar, who developed severe bronchiolitis in June 2021.

It's a powerful and emotional story about trusting your parental instincts, knowing the signs, and getting help as quickly as possible.

You can find the link to the blog in the comments.

Have you ever been affected by a 'winter illness' in summer?

Let's talk about Jellyfish! 🪼

Jellyfish are commonly spotted in UK waters, particularly from May to September, with peak sightings often occurring in the summer months.

While most UK species are not considered dangerous and their stings are not life-threatening, it's worth knowing what to do if you or your little one does come across one in the sea or on the beach.

Would it surprise you to learn that each year, more than 400 babies and children in the UK have a stroke and that some can occur before a baby is even born?

As we reach the end of Stroke Awareness Month, it’s worth taking a few moments to familiarise yourself with stroke signs and symptoms and remind yourself of the key actions to take if you suspect stroke in your child or an adult.

You’ll find additional resources at the website and you can listen to our founder Kate talk about her personal family experience of stroke in episode 3 of the Family Health Podcast on Spotify, Apple and all major podcast platforms.

Young children are particularly vulnerable to choking on a grape because:

⚠️ They don't have a full set of teeth and are still learning to chew properly.

⚠️ Their swallow reflex is still developing.

⚠️Their airway is very small.

This handy image shows just how to slice them so that they are safe to eat - slice in half lengthways and ideally into quarters. NEVER in half widthways.
Same goes for olives, cherry tomatoes
and large blueberries!
