Omg finally Case Study 4 submitted today.

The snail of the group is at least on the move 🐌🤣

This has been my favourite one so far!! Working with an ex-racehorse with asymmetrical muscle development in the shoulders, and look at that 10mm muscle growth on the right in 4 weeks!

This is my kind of saddle fitting 🙌🏻

Apologies to everyone who has been cancelled this week, waiting on appointments, communication and reports.

I have been very ill this week, I hope to be back to work promptly next week but it may take me a little while to catch up with you all.

Thank you for your patience 💕

Case Study 2 compeleted ✅

As with so many saddles they get passed around between friends hoping they will land on a horse that it might fit.

A Steve Stugess saddle on a 16hh Quarter Horse X all rounder.

Another tricky back conformation, as genuinely croup high (most are just bad posture), meaning tactical saddle fit will be required.

Key components in this case:

➰The horses back conformation and comfort
➰Rear panel shape and gusset depth
➰Bridging! A very common problem.

Unfortunately the saddle was deemed unsuitable due to the length, and that’s generally a deal breaker.

First case study completed ✔️

An Arena Pony Jump saddle on a 12.2 PC pony all rounder.

Fitting saddles well to ponies is notoriously difficult! So I threw myself in at the deep end 😅

Tutor feed back notes: ‘Tricky combination and you have made excellent observations and recommendations’

Key things in this case

➰Tree shape
➰Girthing strap options
➰Young Rider (balance, core strength and lower leg position)

📢 Exciting Announcement 📢

Hi guys, some already know but I am in the midst of doing my saddle fitting qualification!

This is always a service I envisioned being part of my business offering, and it finally feels like the right time, so I have taken a big side step and gone back to school to lean some new skills. Don’t worry, professional horse wiggling will still be my primary service ☺️

Saddle fit obviously goes hand in hand with my current work, it’s such a key player in back comfort, performance, lameness and welfare. So it’s really exciting to be filling my little brain with such applicable information to go even further to help my clients have happy horses who can enjoy and excel in their work.

I have completed and passed my theory modules, completed and passed my intensive practical training with a high Merit grade, and now I’ve started my externship.

Part of the externship is completing case studies, I’ve completed a few, I’ve got a few lined up but I need some more! So if you have a horse, and a saddle, and are keen to grab some information on how your horse and saddle are working together then drop me a DM to apply for a FREE case study place.

Priority will be given to current clients (horses seen in the last 12 months), and I am seeking a range of saddle types, horses and disciplines, so please don’t be offended if your not selected.

Chalk and bendy ruler at the ready, I look forward to micro analysing your saddles as well as your horses 😄

〰️ Functional scoliosis 〰️

‘A sideways curvature of the spine that’s is caused by an issue outside of the spine itself’

This is the most common cause for spinal imbalance, normally poor posture, muscles tension imbalances and spasms.

Almost always manageable with conservative options. Best corrected with physical therapy and specific strengthening. As well as reviewing foot balance, rider balance and saddle fit.

Restore correct tension balance in the whole system and you can recover a more balanced spine position as well reducing shoulder bulges and pelvic rotations.

I just loved how this horses lovely dark dorsal line beautifully highlighted the rolling curves of the spine.

Very cool little video made by Shanti Roos, I wouldn’t even know where to start to edit this 😆 Second treatment for her top endurance horse Fripon to get him set to restart work for next season 💪 Saddle fit and strengthing work the initial key factors, follow shanti on Instagram to see how he gets on this year!

🦺 Hi-Viz 🦺

Personally I don’t think there is any excuse for horse riders not to wear high-vis on the roads.

I’m not defending poor driving, but let’s give them a hand, and half a chance to make the right choices.

The majority of the general public have no interaction or understanding of horses. Most are completely ignorant of horse behaviour etc through lack of exposure.

They understand bikes, most people have had some sort of experience riding a bike on a road and so they can relate and understand that as a bike rider it’s nicer and safer to have some space from the car.

But generally cars come upon horses and don’t instinctively know how to behave/ pass. Many make the right choices, and many don’t.

High-vis not only obviously makes you more visible, but the general public will have a learnt understanding of what high-vis means! People requiring extra attention and wanting a higher level of safety decision making from people around them wear high-vis!

People working on the roads wear high-vis. Your school crossing patrol wear high-vis. People directing traffic wear high-vis.

When we see someone in high-vis we instinctively pause and wonder what extra choices might we need to make to keep these people in or around the person in high-vis safe.

Wear high-vis. Because why not?!

A little about me...

I am an Equine Osteopath, both a practitioner and a lecturer in the subject. My work was borne from personal experience with the power of osteopathic philosophy and healing, as well as a inherent passion for horses. I am very fortunate to have a job where I am genuinely excited and inspired to go to work each and every day, I love my job.

.

I aim to provide an expert solution for owners to help resolve back pain, improve & maintain performance and support injury recovery for their horses. Alongside this I offer informative talks to groups and clubs on related topics such as exercises, back care basics and anatomy. I am passionate about the education aspect for clients, hence my informative posts on my page.
