I’ve gone a bit quiet lately, but just to let you know I’m still alive and kicking - with my hiking boots on. I’ve swapped Dartmoor for the mountains of Indonesia for a couple of months while working remotely.

I’ll be back in late April with lots of spring bookings lined up, so see you back on Dartmoor then!

A message from my daughter, who’s currently off travelling and spreading her wings, brought the biggest smile to my face today.

There was a time during those teenage years when rebellion meant our outdoor adventures were firmly off the agenda as apparently mum wasn’t quite as cool as fresh independence!

I’m so happy knowing she’s finding her way back to the very things that once grounded and nurtured her (and me!).

It’s such a beautiful reminder that the roots we give our children stay with them, even when they wander.

One of the wildest walks I’ve ever guided — wind, rain and mist in full force as Storm Chandra rolled through.

Luckily I was with a well-prepared, fun group of experienced foragers from , eager to get to know more about the moor, including Right to Roam and the Wild Camping Campaign.

With a Norwegian in the group, it was fascinating to compare how Right to Roam works in his country and what we can learn from it here.

Spotted a few hardy souls braving the last few days with their tents 🏕️ Low-key camping, leaving no trace, and smiling through the tiredness. Fantastic! All were within the camping areas (purple) but sharing again so it’s common knowledge by the time summer rolls around ☀️

What a wonderful day with this gorgeous couple.

They are local but didn’t have the confidence to explore Dartmoor on their own so we got a great 12km hike in over very wet and tufty terrain experience all weather including the infamous Dartmoor mist.

They were rewarded by dinner and a cosy nights stay at Dartmoor Inn, Merrivale
