We are absolutely delighted to share some wonderful news with you all.
A huge congratulations to our Chef James, who has been shortlisted as a finalist for the Stars of Social Care – Care Home Awards 2026.
This is a truly well-deserved recognition of James’ outstanding dedication, creativity, and commitment to delivering high-quality meals for our residents every day. His passion for cooking goes far beyond the kitchen — he takes great pride in ensuring that every dish is nutritious, beautifully presented, and tailored to individual needs and preferences.
Mealtimes are such an important part of daily life in our home, and James plays a key role in making them something our residents genuinely look forward to. Whether it’s preparing comforting favourites, accommodating special dietary requirements, or simply adding a personal touch to brighten someone’s day, his attention to detail and care shines through in everything he does.
Being shortlisted as a finalist is a fantastic achievement and reflects not only his skill as a chef, but also his compassion and understanding of the people he supports. It is also a reflection of the strong teamwork and shared commitment to quality care across our home.

Croft Lodge Care Home Residents in Teignmouth Step Back in Time with Joyful ‘Shake, Rattle and Roll’ Celebration

Residents at Croft Lodge Care in Teignmouth, part of Centrum Care Homes Group, were transported back through the decades as they enjoyed an uplifting musical experience celebrating the golden eras of rock and roll.

The home recently welcomed entertainment specialists presenting Shake, Rattle and Roll, an interactive performance that brought the spirit of the 1950s, the swinging 60s and the glittering 70s to life. Featuring much loved music from iconic artists including The Beatles, Elvis Presley, Lulu and ABBA, the show created a lively and nostalgic atmosphere that had residents singing along, clapping and fully immersed in the moment.

The performance was designed to be interactive, with props and audience participation helping to spark memories and encourage engagement. Residents were able to reminisce about their younger years, sharing stories and enjoying the familiar music that has shaped their lives.

The event brought a real sense of energy and connection to the home, with team members joining in the celebrations and supporting residents to take part in a way that felt comfortable and enjoyable for them

The event reflects Croft Lodge’s ongoing commitment to providing engaging, person centred activities that support wellbeing, encourage social interaction and celebrate the individuality of every resident.

For many, the afternoon was a chance to relive treasured memories, while for others it was simply an opportunity to enjoy the music, atmosphere and companionship.

Our residents were rockin’ and rollin’ all day long—singing to the sweet sounds of the 50s, twisting and swinging into the 60s, and getting their groove on with a splash of 70s classics! 💃🕺 The whole home was buzzing with music, smiles, and feel-good vibes—you could hear the joy in every corner!

A massive shoutout to our amazing entertainment team! 🌟 Faye was absolutely fabulous, bringing the fun with props and getting everyone involved—what a star! 🎤✨

Croft Lodge are excited to announce that, following our success at the Great British Care Awards 2024 for End of Life Care as part of Centrum Care Homes, we are continuing to build on our commitment to excellence.

Alongside our sister homes, we have now begun our journey with the Gold Standards Framework (GSF) training. This nationally recognised programme is designed to improve the quality of care for people approaching the end of life, ensuring they receive compassionate, coordinated, and person-centred support.

The Gold Standards Framework is evidence-based and has been widely shown to:
• Improve quality of life for residents nearing end of life
• Enhance communication between care teams, residents, and families
• Reduce unnecessary hospital admissions
• Ensure people are cared for with dignity, in their preferred place of care

As part of this journey, we are working towards achieving the GSF Quality Hallmark Award (often recognised as a ‘kite mark’ of excellence), demonstrating our commitment to delivering the highest standards of end of life care.

By undertaking this training, our team is strengthening their skills, knowledge, and confidence to provide the very best care and support for our residents and their loved ones during this important stage of life.

We are proud to continue raising standards and making a meaningful difference every day. 💙

With all the lovely food and delicious cakes, Croft Lodge residents enjoyed a wonderful time celebrating together 🍫🐣

There were plenty of smiles as everyone shared some chocolate treats, with chocolate eggs for all to enjoy. We hope the staff enjoyed their chocolate treats just as much as the residents!

It was such a joy to see everyone spending quality time together, making special memories and spreading happiness throughout the day.

A heartfelt thank you to my amazing staff for all their hard work, care, and dedication—you truly make these moments sospecial ❤️

The residents are having a truly wonderful Easter Sunday, beginning with a delicious roast lunch shared together, creating a warm and joyful atmosphere for all. A choice of roast lamb or salmon made the meal extra special and thoroughly enjoyed by everyone.

Following lunch, the celebrations continued with a delightful high tea, featuring a selection of cakes and traditional hot cross buns—always a favourite at this time of year!
