A gentle herbal walk on historic monastic land. Meet wild plants, feel their scent and texture, and reconnect to nature at Abbey Manor
Join Daria for a slow, peaceful herbal walk on the private grounds of Abbey Manor, Buildwas — a beautiful landscape beside the ancient ruins of Buildwas Abbey, where wild herbs have grown for centuries.
This is not a foraging class and not a technical workshop.
It is a calm, guided walk designed to help you reconnect with nature through simple, direct experience.
For two unhurried hours, we will explore the plants that thrive on this historic land, noticing their scent, texture, shape and presence. You will hear short stories about their traditional uses, but the focus will be on meeting the plants in a natural, intuitive way — through touch, smell and quiet observation.
🌱 What to expect
During this walk, you will be invited to:
- smell early‑spring herbs that have grown here for generations
- feel the textures of wild growing plants
- notice how plants express themselves through posture and resilience
- experience the calm atmosphere of monastic land
- enjoy a gentle tree‑hugging moment with one of the old trees (optional)
- try a short barefoot grounding practice (weather‑permitting)
- use a small clear quartz piece as a tactile anchor during grounding
- slow down and let the landscape set the pace
Everything is optional, gentle and suitable for all levels.
🌿 Plants & traditional uses
We will meet early‑spring herbs such as nettle, cleavers, wild garlic and more that naturally grow around the estate. Daria will include a short story about how herbs were used by monks in the past.
Daria will share simple, short information about how these plants were traditionally used for nourishment, soothing or seasonal support.
You will learn through experience, not memorisation.
🌳 Why this place is special
Abbey Manor Buildwas sits beside the remains of a medieval monastery.
The land carries a quiet, reflective atmosphere shaped by centuries of herbal knowledge and deep connection with nature.
Many of the plants we will meet today grow in the same places their ancestors grew hundreds of years ago.
