🌞 What a fantastic day at Hazelwood! 🌸

What an amazing day at the very first Summer Fete at ShireLiving’s brand new scheme in Whitchurch. It was a wonderful afternoon full of fun, stalls, BBQ, games, entertainment and community spirit.

A big thank you to all the staff and residents who helped make the day such a great success. Your energy, creativity, and teamwork brought Hazelwood to life.

Here’s to many more events to come at Hazelwood! 💜

🧶Purling Together for a Good Cause 🧶

Last weeks Summer Fayre at Withywood was a great success, thanks to the hard work and support of tenants and staff! 👏

A grand total of £530 was raised for the Tenant Fund, and an additional £500 for Operation Sabre, through a raffle organised by the Knit and Natter group, featuring a handmade farmyard set.

The raffle was won by tenant Harry, who kindly donated the prize back so it can be given to children supported by the Targu Mures Child Protection Unit in Romania. Operation Sabre will deliver the set during their next visit later this year.

Funds raised will support the creation of an outdoor play area for children in care, which will include a plaque recognising the support from Withywood. Operation Sabre is planning a return visit to Withywood later in the year to give a talk and slideshow about the impact of the donation.

🏡 Welcome to Hazelwood, Marie! 🏡

It’s been an exciting time in Whitchurch as new tenants begin moving into Hazelwood, our newest ShireLiving community.

Hazelwood offers 71 beautifully designed extra care apartments, and it’s already becoming a vibrant hub - not just for tenants, but for the wider community too, thanks to the welcoming onsite café.

Meet Marie, one of the first to move in. She’s made the move to be closer to her daughter and grandson, and it’s already starting to feel like home 💜

Ewe Could Be the Winner! 🐑🧶🎟️

The Withywood Knit & Natter Group have been busy crafting a wonderful farmyard display in support of Operation Sabre, a charity providing aid to Ukraine.

You can buy raffle tickets from our tenants at Withywood for a chance to win the entire display! The lucky winner will be drawn during Withywood Summer Fayre on 26th July, 2–5pm at Withywood, Pension Way, Shrewsbury.

A representative from Operation Sabre will also be joining us on the day. Come along, show your support, and be part of something special!

Meet Michael, one of Hazelwood's newest residents!

The recent move has given him peace of mind, after a fall that resulted in spending a year in hospital.

Michael served in the Air Force until an avalanche accident meant he was unable to work again. "I'm not the best walker now" he explains, was the reason Hazelwood was a great fit for him.

With family close by, "lovely workers, gorgeous food" and the flexibility of living independently, he says "you can't get a better place".

We couldn't agree more! Hazelwood is quickly filling up with new residents who are happy to call it home.

"What a busy morning we have had today here at Parkwood" says Matt, a ShireLiving Housing and Care Assistant.

Parkwood is working with their local Pharmacy and Community Nurses to deliver the NHS Healthy Ageing and Frailty Strategy.

Matt explains: "Woodside Practice Nurse came to check our tenants ears and helped with blood pressure checks, and then a visit from NHS Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin to talk with our tenants."

Well done Matt and Team Parkwood for keeping residents fit and healthy! 😁❤️

A Knight to Remember at ShireLiving! 🕺🎙🎵

We had the absolute pleasure of welcoming Peter Knight to Parkwood recently for an incredible evening of music and fun! His performance had everyone smiling, singing along, and thoroughly enjoying themselves - the atmosphere was fantastic! 🌟

Our tenants went home beaming, and that’s what it’s all about. Creating moments like these is at the heart of what we do. If they’re happy, we’re happy and we know we’ve succeeded.

A big thank you also goes to our wonderful chef Beverley, who worked her magic in the kitchen! Judging by the sandwich platters… there wasn’t much left! 🥪

🎉 Withywood Knows How to Party! 🎉

It’s been a lively few days at our ShireLiving scheme in Shrewsbury, with not one but two fantastic evenings of entertainment.

We kicked things off with the brilliant Hullabaloo Ukulele Band, with tenants raising a fantastic £205.25 for the Lingen Davies Cancer Fund - a big thank you to everyone who donated!

Then we rounded off our VE Day celebrations with a great performance from pianist George, who brought the house down with classic songs and even got our tenants involved in the show.

Along the way, we celebrated a birthday, a 60th wedding anniversary, and enjoyed some beautiful singing from our very own residents. A real team effort and a great time all round!

🍳 Cracking work experience with ShireLiving 🍳

Ciara had an egg-cellent time with our catering team during her work experience — now she’s studying catering at Telford College and smashing it!

She caught up with us at the Telford Skills Show and hopes to work with us again soon.
