Ashwood residents have enjoyed a jam-packed social calendar over the past few weeks – and here are just some of the highlights. 🤩

From Easter celebrations and Red Nose Day fun to belting out some classics at karaoke night, as well as marking St Patrick’s Day in style, and even taking a nostalgic trip back to school!

There’s been lots of fun had by all in Oswestry!

Now looking ahead to a busy spring/summer programme of activities, featuring an afternoon tea for St George's Day next week, Animal Encounters visiting and a trip to Trentham Gardens planned in May, as well as their Summer Fete on 15 August. ☀🌼

🧸Stitching for a good cause 🧸

Residents at one of our ShireLiving independent living schemes in Shrewsbury have been busy stitching for our local heroes. Our wonderful Knit and Natter group has been knitting teddy bears for the emergency services - all fuelled by plenty of tea and cake.

Over 40 handmade bears are ready to be delivered to the ambulance service, and are sure to bring comfort when it’s needed most.

And they’re not stopping there… next on the needles? Teapot cosies! 🫖🧶

🎉 Happy Birthday Hazelwood! 🎉

The ShireLiving independent living scheme in Whitchurch, has just celebrated its first birthday. Staff and residents came together to mark the occasion, enjoying a buffet prepared by our wonderful catering team.

It was great to see such a strong turnout and to take a moment to celebrate Hazelwood’s first year as a welcoming and inclusive community.

Our teams are now out and about at our extra care and retirement living schemes, helping to keep outdoor spaces neat, tidy and ready to enjoy – whether that’s a stroll in the sunshine or spending time with neighbours, we know how important these green spaces are.

🌼 Springwood Residents Rally for Severn Hospice 🌼

The amazing community at Springwood in Shifnal has spent the past year coming together to raise funds in memory of a much‑loved neighbour and their hard work has really paid off!

From afternoon teas and raffles to handmade crafts and their biggest ball yet, residents have worked hard throughout the year to raise an impressive £1,500 for Severn Hospice. They took on everything themselves - from preparing the food to making the decorations and organising the event.

Resident Rosaline said:

“We wanted to do something really special in her memory… everyone pulled together. It just shows what a special community we’ve got here at Springwood.”

Severn Hospice’s Phil Haigh recently visited Springwood to receive the cheque and thanked residents for their kindness and generosity, which helps support thousands of families each year.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the Guide Dogs afternoon talk here at our ShireLiving community in Wombourne. And an extra‑special thank you to Claire, who brought along her amazing black Labrador, Royal! 🖤🐶

With the support of our wonderful tenants, their families and friends, an incredible £200 was raised for Guide Dogs UK.

We’re delighted share that ShireLiving Housing and Care Manager Sue East has been recognised as a winner at this year’s Women Achieving Greatness in Social Care Awards (WAGS), receiving the Rising Star Award! 🌟

Although Sue joined us only six months ago, she’s already made an incredible impact. With empathy and purpose, she has inspired her team to deliver outstanding care and shown the leadership qualities that mark her out as one to watch in the sector.
