One of the best parts of our job is that every single project is different and no two days are the same, and that's certainly true for the work we completed for Balfour Beatty on Sheep Bridge in Cherrington.

We were tasked with repairing the historic bridge, but the team were against the clock to complete essential works before the fish spawning season started and even involved the installation of a portable dam to control river flow so we could access the stonework.

Winning the coveted Company of the Year at last year’s Shropshire Chamber Business Awards has been one of the proudest moments in our history. 🏆

We’re honoured that this is the second time we’ve taken home the Company of the Year title, having also won in 2010.

Our managing director Paul Inions was invited to take to the stage for the launch of this year’s awards at Hencote in Shrewsbury and spoke to Shropshire Live’s Ryan Kennedy about what it meant to us as a business and to every member of our team.

In 2026 it’s time for another fantastic Shropshire company to take on the baton, and that’s why this year we are sponsoring the Company of the Year category.

It’s almost 12 months since we launched the McPhillips Community Fund, in partnership with Shropshire Community Foundation, helping organisations across the county deliver help and support where it’s needed most.

Joe Lockley runs Brightstar in Shrewsbury. Our funding helped deliver a 12-week programme that combines boxing with mental health support.

Children from Sutton Park School lent a hand planting dozens of daffodils and what a fantastic job they’ve done. We can’t wait to see them in bloom! 🌷

Work is underway at Finning UK and Ireland 's new Rebuild Centre of Excellence in Cannock.

We’ve been on site demolishing existing stores and work has started on the brand-new, state-of-the-art workshop, which will eventually house four 12-ton cranes and a PV roof.

Finning is the world’s largest Caterpillar dealer, and when complete, the workshop will be home to some of the region’s specialists in servicing, repairing and rebuilding Cat® machinery.

Drumroll... our 2025 winner is Simon Westmacott for his shot of Sam and Owen's new Volvo excavators, ready to get to work on the water main diversion in Coventry. Well done, Simon! 👏

2026 is already shaping up to be a busy year for our team, with lots of exciting new projects underway and in the pipeline.

Our managing director, Paul Inions, has been outlining his thoughts on what 2026 holds for the region and the construction industry, including an upturn in infrastructure and commercial projects and the potential opportunities to be created by the £13 billion West Midlands investment.
