🌿 How Companionship Improves Mental Health 🌿
Many older adults spend long periods of time alone, which can lead to loneliness, sadness, and anxiety. Something as simple as regular companionship can make a huge difference to someone’s wellbeing.
A friendly visit, a cup of tea, a chat, or a short walk can help:
💜 Reduce feelings of loneliness
💜 Improve mood and emotional wellbeing
💜 Boost confidence and independence
💜 Keep the mind active through conversation
💜 Bring comfort and reassurance
At Care To You – Home Care Services, I believe that care is not just about support with daily tasks, but also about meaningful human connection.
Companionship visits provide warmth, kindness, and someone who genuinely cares.
📍 Serving: tewkesbury, cheltenham and surrounding villages.
📞 Call us today: 07799 576503
Because everyone deserves to feel valued, heard, and supported in the comfort of their own home. 💜

This month, we’ve been focusing on relationships - with others and with yourself. 📅

Although the dynamic between you and a person with dementia may change, it’s still possible to share closeness and meaningful moments together.

Looking after yourself isn’t selfish, it’s essential. You are more than your caring role, and you deserve care too.

What's one thing you've taken away or learnt this month? Tag someone in the comments who might need to hear this. 💙

Some ideas for those who want to access the community and have something to enjoy, meet people, socialise, and gain new experiences:

There are Inclusion Hubs across Gloucestershire, led by disabled people for disabled people, these are located in Gloucester, Cheltenham and Forest.

People often ask, “Will you do everything for me?”
Or say, “I don’t need anyone — I can do it all myself.”
And that’s exactly the point.
Home care isn’t about doing everything for someone. It’s about doing things with them. It’s about stepping in where needed, stepping back where possible, and always encouraging independence.
One of the things I do is support people to stay confident in their own homes — whether that’s preparing healthy meals together, encouraging good nutrition, or building confidence in everyday tasks.
It’s about supporting choice, maintaining dignity, and helping people do as much as they can for themselves — with just the right level of support.
Home care is partnership.
It’s empowerment.
It’s about enabling — not replacing. 💛

Today I was reminded just how important it is to listen.
While sat outside enjoying the sunshine, I spent time chatting with one of my clients who is 92 years young. With recent news bringing back memories, they began sharing stories of their childhood during the war — speaking about rationing, making food stretch, and working the land to grow what their family needed to survive. They also spoke about bathing in front of the fire and how these simple routines were just part of everyday life.
There was no complaint in their voice — only resilience, strength, and quiet pride in how communities supported one another through difficult times.
Moments like this remind me that care is about so much more than practical support. It’s about listening, valuing life experiences, and recognising the incredible histories our clients carry with them.
I feel privileged every day to hear these stories and to care for a generation that has shown such courage and endurance.

The sun is starting to shine, which can only mean one thing — it’s time to get out and about ☀️
Sunshine can lift our mood, boost wellbeing, and bring smiles all around. I love helping the people I support enjoy the fresh air, whether it’s a gentle walk, time in the garden, or simply sitting outside and soaking up the warmth.
Because sometimes the smallest moments make the biggest difference 💛
Loved a little walk and natter around the church today with one of the people I support — fresh air, good company, and a lovely way to spend the afternoon

I’ve been a bit slack at logging lately as work and life have been busy, but I have still been getting the miles in.
I will get to 100 miles. Work and life might slow me down sometimes, but they won’t stop me. Every step, every walk, every treadmill mile is getting me closer — and I’m determined to finish this for Cancer Research UK 💪
Thank you to everyone supporting me along the way — it really does make a difference.

“Today is World Cancer Day.”
This is something that is close to my heart — not just today, but every day.❤️

Cancer has touched my life in ways words can’t fully explain. The journey, the strength, the loss, the hope — it stays with you. Every single day. Today isn’t just about awareness; it’s about remembering, supporting, and doing what we can to make a difference.

Whether it’s wearing a ribbon, sharing a story, or raising money for cancer research, every action matters. Every conversation matters. Every bit of support counts.

Today is day 4 of me walking 100 miles for cancer research. Every step is for those who can’t, for those still fighting, and for those we carry in our hearts. 🎗️

Thank you to everyone who has supported, donated, shared, or sent encouragement — it truly means more than you know.

Hello everyone,

To help with communication , new diaries have been put out for non-urgent matters (for example, stock items such as shower gel). As I’m not always able to access my phone while with clients, this will help reduce non-emergency messages.

Please check that your emergency contact details are up to date in the diary.

🔴Please note: On Thursday, I will be in training and unavailable between 9:00am and 12:00pm🔴.
DONT hesitate for emergencies or late changes (such as last-minute appointments), please call or text and I will reply with a timely manor.
Thank you for your cooperation,
Becky
