LOOKING FOR SOME HELP PLEASE - BACKUP TOWING OPTIONS 🛻

I am putting out a wee enquiry to local people with towing vehicles who might be willing to help in the event that my vehicle is not available, or if I decide to transition to a different vehicle in the long term.

Generally, moving the sauna would be no more than once per month, and obviously happy to negotiate a price for the service.

Vehicle must be capable of towing +2800kg

After some recent logistical challenges and vehicle issues its clearly shown a weak point of running a semi-mobile business that relies heavily on a certain type of vehicle. Any support or help would be much appreciated as I navigate this challenge and decide how to make things easier in the long term 🙂🙏🏼

Behind the scenes and a few before & after snaps 👀

Here is a little look at whats been going on behind the scenes (its not all just been a holiday 😂😂), and an insight into some general up keep & improvements! After almost 1 year in service, it was time for some TLC.

🛠 Bench deep clean, repairs, sand & oil

🪨 Remove & clean 250kg of stones (some job by the way 😂)

🔥 Deep clean stove, sweep chimnet, and touch up rusty stove spots with paint

💦 Finally got some new drains installed

🪵 Crafted a little step to make popping up to the top bench easier for some folks (just needs a wee coat of oil)

Always something to be chipping away at, but this was a good dent in the to do list 🙌🏼

After an amazing couple weeks away exploring Madeira, its time to get the sauna fired up again! I've heard its been a cold & mixed May, so looking forward to be back up & running for the final 2 weekends of the month and bringing some heat! 🔥

Even on holiday in Madeira we had very mixed weather - especially in the Mountains it felt a bit too familiar to home 😂🌦🥶 although we did recover in the sun, I'm also excited to jump back in the sauna too!

Whatever the conditions the sauna will be hot, and the wind & weather elements ready for a wild sauna!

🧘‍♀️🔥 Yoga & Sauna — Sunday 31st May — 10:30-14:00 🔥🌊

Our next yoga & sauna combo 🧘🏽‍♂️🔥 if the weather allows we will try to make it outdoor or beach yoga (🤞🏼fingers crossed) 🌱☀️ will be confirmed on the day!

Iain will start with a guided 30-minute mindful practice using meditation, breath & sound to help you properly arrive, relax, and ground. From there, you'll move into an all-abilities yoga flow, building warmth and connection in the body.

Then it’s on to the sauna for hot & cold cycles in the wild 🌬️🔥 If the sea is calm and inviting, you can dip… and if not, the shower and waterfall bucket are ready for that invigorating refresh ❄️🚿

Expect movement, warmth, cold, and connection with nature.

April round up 🌱🔥🌊

First taste of spring in the air and April has flown in! Here is a little reflection & round up from April!

🙌🏼 Clach Mara Sauna became a BSS operator member, celebrating the growing UK sauna culture and making sure we are proudly representing amazing sauna experiences ☺️

🏃🏽‍♂️First run & sauna in some better weather. It was tough at times to keep this up in the winter, but looking forward to more of this ☀️

💦 Lots of cold waterfall buckets (as we still had some tricky weedy conditions in the bay)

🔥 Enjoyed trying an amazing new sauna in Wales with the boys on a hilarious Stag trip. It was the perfect way to round off the weekend!

🧘🏽‍♂️ Yoga and sauna went down a treat once again (no photo sorry). Not quite warm enough for outdoor yoga, but hopefully in May 🤞🏼

💩 Welcomed for a sauna and really enjoyed learning more about what they do and the issues around plastic & sewage pollution. Inspired by their Million Mile Clean - expect a beach clean & sauna sometime soon 👀

Closed for 3 weeks now for some maintenance, followed by a 2 week holiday & late honeymoon to Madeira! 😍☀️

Back in action and open for the last 2 weekends in May - 23rd/24th and 30th/31st!

TOMORROW - Community Sauna Session 🤍🔥

A bit last minute, but since there are a few Surfers Against Sewage events this weekend, we decided to run some community sessions tomorrow at 11am and 12pm!

Following on from the Hustings event (tonight at 7pm - Thurso Girl Guides Hall ), and the Million Mile Beach clean (tomorrow 9am - Dunnet Beach), we thought it would be great to add a few community sauna sessions to the mix.
Also a perfect way to warm up & relax after a beach clean 🙌🏼

Community sessions are donation-based sessions for all, raising money for local charities. This is a relaxed, social, sauna with a few simple aims:

🔥 Offer a more affordable way for people to try the sauna
✨ Welcome regulars to share the experience and encourage others
💰 Build an annual charity pot — this year supporting Caithness Food Bank and Thurso Community Café
🫱🏻‍🫲🏼 Encourage connection, conversation, and community
😌 Share the physical, mental, and wellbeing benefits of sauna and time in nature

These sessions are booked through our usual booking system with no upfront cost. On the day, we suggest a £5 donation (or whatever feels right) — no obligation. 50% of proceeds are shared between our chosen charities and partners at the end of the year.

Everyone is welcome — whether you’re a regular, a first-timer, or just curious to give it a go 🌊🔥

You can also support by spreading the word, sharing this post, or encouraging someone you know to come and try the sauna.

Hustings Tour: A few days to go!

Surfers, swimmers, sauna lovers, dog walkers - for anyone interested in our local water quality this is an important event to find out more and ask questions

There’s just a few days to go now until a hustings event at Thurso Girl Guides Hall on Friday 24th April 7pm - 8:30pm!

With the elections fast approaching, together we can show every political party that clean coastlines and healthy rivers must be a priority for voters.

It’s your chance to ask candidates about their plans for tackling pollution in our wild waters, and make sure they hear loud and clear what matters to our community.

Back in Castletown this weekend after a few weeks away 🙂🔥

Been nice to have a little break, and do a fun pop-up day for the Scottish Surfing Championships 🌊

Now we are settling back into Castletown for a wee while 😍

Still a little disrupted as I juggle some time off for holidays, but you will find us here on the following dates:

Delighted to be heading for a last minute pop up at the Scottish Surfing Championships on Saturday 🔥🌊

The sauna wasn't quite ready for the event this time last year, but excited to make it now! Its a unique opportunity to try the sauna in a different spot, and watch Scotlands best surfers (hopefully in some excellent conditions with a promising forecast) 🤞🏼

📍Thurso East
(tucked away behind the surfclub hut for some privacy)
🕐 11am - 5pm
🔥 Sauna with a view & watch the surfing
❄️ Cool down - cold showers (clubhouse) & waterfall bucket
🏄🏽‍♂️ Support local surfers

The sessions will run with a capacity of 4 spaces for public / communal, and 4 spaces for competitors & staff to dip in and out 🙂

Pre booking advised, but walk-ins and payment on the day is also fine!

Hopefully see you there for some heat and a spectacular day of surfing 🔥🌊
