Life and Soul Counselling Life and Soul Counselling - in person or online counselling sessions My life has been wonderfully varied.

Along the way, I learned a lot about life, people, and the struggles we all endure. Most importantly, I discovered how much I value connecting with fellow human beings from all walks of life and different perspectives. Through my personal journey, with its inevitable ups and downs, I realised years ago that my passion lay in supporting others to navigate through difficult and turbulent times in their lives. Reflecting on my personal experiences, I've come to understand the profound difference it makes to have someone to simply listen and share my troubles with. This insight drives my commitment to providing compassionate support to others.

🌌 Winter Solstice: A Time to Pause and Reflect 🌌

As we approach the Winter Solstice—the darkest day of the year—it’s a powerful reminder that even in the deepest darkness, light is on its way. From December 21st, the days will begin to lengthen, offering the promise of brighter times ahead.

This seasonal shift mirrors the cycles we experience in life: periods of rest, reflection, and renewal. While these shorter days can feel challenging, they also invite us to slow down and nurture our wellbeing.

Here are some ways to support yourself during this time:

✨ Create Your Light: Use warm lighting or candles to cultivate a calming space. This small act can soothe the mind and lift the spirit.
✨ Embrace Daylight: Even a brief walk outdoors can reconnect you with nature’s rhythms and help clear your thoughts.
✨ Practice Self-Compassion: Acknowledge that winter invites us to rest and recharge. Allow yourself the space to do so.
✨ Connect Within: Journaling, mindfulness, or talking things through can help you find clarity and peace.

At Life and Soul Counselling, we believe in finding light even in life’s darker moments. If you’re struggling with the weight of the season or need a supportive space to reflect, I’m here to walk with you on your journey toward renewal.

Remember, the light is coming back—and so is your inner strength. 🌟

How are you taking care of yourself this season?

Having taken a break from things for a while to allow myself to process that my mum passed away, I now feel able to provide support to others again. I just had some thoughts to share while they are on my mind.. This was a woman with a kind, loving, adventurous spirit, though her struggles with addiction and alcoholism in her latter years often overshadowed who she truly was. These battles ultimately led her to make choices that shortened her life, but I always loved her deeply for who she was underneath it all—the caring, funny, witty, and vibrant person I knew was inherently her.

Addiction is a heartbreaking journey, not just for those who struggle with it, but also for their loved ones. Watching someone you care about battle with addiction is incredibly painful, and it often leaves family members feeling helpless, hurt, and overwhelmed. It’s a complex and difficult experience that affects everyone involved.

Losing someone you love can feel like a punch in the gut, knocking the wind out of you when you least expect it. But even in the depths of pain, there is still so much beauty and love to be found in life. It's important to be patient with ourselves as we navigate grief, to let ourselves feel all the emotions that come with it—because they will ebb and flow. Some days will be better, and some days will be worse, but eventually, the light will begin to shine through again.

To anyone going through a similar loss, or who has felt the heartbreak of addiction in their family, know that you're not alone. Be kind to yourself, allow yourself to grieve, and remember that healing isn't a straight path. It’s okay to feel broken one day and a little bit stronger the next. Life has a way of surprising us with moments of peace and beauty, even in the darkest times. Hold on to those moments, and keep moving forward, one step at a time

🌿 There is power in the pause 🌿

We can't control other people, but we can get control over our responses to those people. We can get caught up and react, or choose to pause, take a breath or two, then respond.

🌿✨ Understanding and Processing Emotions ✨🌿

When we suppress our emotions, they don’t disappear – they linger and can manifest in ways that negatively impact our mental and physical health. Suppression often leads to increased stress, anxiety, and emotional outbursts.

On the other hand, when we process our emotions, we create space for healing and personal growth. By acknowledging and understanding our feelings, we can find healthier ways to cope and navigate through life’s challenges.

If you need support with exploring emotions that feel too overwhelming, reach out - you don't have to do it alone.
