I’m travelling around this summer for facilitating antenatal courses in a few different areas…

Bexleyheath, Oxted, Canterbury, Tunbridge Wells and Greenwich!

And I have a Tonbridge course running in July for babies due September 😊

Looking forward to meeting and supporting lots of new parents over the next few months… helping them to navigate their way through late pregnancy, birth and the early days of life with a baby.

Check out the NCT website for details of courses near you (link in bio)

Just a few of the many cards I’ve received from parents, from meeting them at an antenatal course or at pregnancy or postnatal yoga… always a pleasure to be a little piece of their experience in the transition to parenthood 🥰

My NCT antenatal session this evening covered…

- practical baby care

- safer sleep guidance including co-sleeping

- sleep expectations 😴

- baby brain development 🧠

- postnatal recovery and the first week ❤️‍🩹

And we also discussed the terms
and and the huge transition that is becoming a parent

What was your most surprising thing about becoming a parent?

So lovely to see this recent NCT group meeting up together for a walk with their babies. A hugely important part of booking onto an NCT antenatal course is meeting the other parents and having that support network. But this isn’t just a case of putting pregnant people in a room together and hoping this happens… at NCT we facilitate this through our understanding of adult education and group management. What does this look like? Lots of opportunities for the group to work together, small group discussion, working in pairs or in the whole group. Facilitating honest and open discussion, sharing thoughts and experiences. Valuing what everyone brings. At NCT we help to build these connections that often last for many years to come 🥰

The next NCT antenatal course I’m facilitating in Tonbridge for babies due April-May is fully booked. I’m really looking forward to meeting the group and supporting them during their transition to parenthood. I love the rich discussions that we have, from navigating decisions around birth to preparing for the first weeks with their baby. Everyone with their unique experiences and perspectives.

If you’re due this summer, NCT courses in Tonbridge are available starting in April and May.

In tonight’s pregnancy yoga class there was a discussion around Induction of Labour. My local trust .maternity share their maternity statistics on their website. This infographic represents the birth outcomes of women having an Induction of Labour for their first baby. It’s really good that these statistics are available for people to read and discuss. If you’re being offered an Induction of Labour, you might find it helpful to ask some questions such as…

❤️ why is induction being offered? What are the indications for this?

❤️ what are the benefits of accepting an Induction?

❤️ what are the downsides?

And then, you can take as much time as you need to make a decision. This decision might be to accept the offer of Induction, decline the offer and wait a bit longer or request a planned caesarean. Whatever you decide, it’s important that you feel comfortable with your options 👌
