Another week gone by! 🌷
Let's take a look at what we've been doing...

☺️ Monday- Some St. Patrick's Day crafts & a trip to Torquay United indoor bowls to play with our friends from Aveland Court Care Home Torquay! Great fun! 🎱❤️

☺️ Tuesday - St. Patrick's Day Theme, listening to Irish music, testing our skills with quizzes & games & a little karaoke! Then out for a walk in the park nearby & a little daffodil crafting! ☘️🇮🇪 🎶🎤

☺️ Wednesday -: Armchair exercises with Jordan ensuring we stay flexible. After lunch a visit from Turning Heads Community Group creating some Henna tattoos on paper & a welcome visit from Sue the hairdresser for some fresh styles! ⛹️✂️🪮

🌞 Thursday - Our weekly Church service with volunteers from St Mags Church with some room visits too. After lunch we welcomed our Residents & families for our quarterly meeting followed by some welcomed time spent in the garden! 🙏🎶🌷🦋

🌞Friday brought our Red Nose Comic Relief Charity Coffee morning for residents, family & friends. We enjoyed some delicious cakes and fruit along with some amusing poems from volunteer Mark. We also heard some heartfelt poems written by one of our residents from Aveland Court read by his daughter. ❤️
After lunch some residents enjoyed sitting in the Spring sunshine talking about "Things our Mother's said" & another looking at the book of poems he wrote. Most enjoyed eating an ice cream too! Afterwards a picture quiz of famous comedians to guess!

❓Can you think of a gift you'd like that money can't buy?

Another busy week in vibrancy and fun-filled moments at Lorna house this week!

⚜️Monday - Started by getting crafty combining International Women's Day with forthcoming Mother's Day creating some tulip baskets and after lunch some time in the park! 🌷🌳

⚜️ Tuesday - Took us to the nearby Anchorage for breakfast with a couple of residents, thoroughly enjoyed by them! 🍳🥓 Also looking at the Crufts Dog Show winner for 2026 and some quizzes including A - Z of Dog breeds. 🐕🐾🦴 After lunch a couple of the ladies enjoyed & laughed so much, playing table tennis and one of our daycare gentlemen enjoyed a game of Carrom board! 🏓

⚜️ Wednesday - Brought a little time in the garden for a couple of residents and one gentleman looking out for birds and squirrels.🐿️ Another resident enjoyed watching a Boxing match a firm favourite promoting our residents choices. ❤️🥊
After lunch another visit from our friends at Turning Heads Community Group. Together we created our very own Lorna House Lowry picture of matchstick men with charcoal! 🖌️🎨✏️
⚜️Thursday - we welcomed the volunteers from St Mags church for our weekly service for a time of spiritual reflection. 🙏⛪
After lunch we thoroughly enjoyed some fabulous music from Patrick Jervis - Entertainer. He brought some toe tapping enjoyment and had our residents singing and dancing! 💃🎶🎤

⚜️Friday - started with chatting to one of our residents about his favourite film "Love is a Many Splendourd Thing" and enabling him to watch shorts of the film.🎬❤️ This was followed after by creating some fruit kebabs for Nutrition and Hydration week providing tasty nourishment! 🍍🍓🍉
After lunch another of our residents enjoyed attending " Singing for Fun" a local Community Group held monthly in the local area while other residents enjoyed some karaoke in the home! 🎶🎤

Our Lunchtime Topics over sherry included -
❓ Is there a woman who influenced you in your life?

❓ Can you think of an excuse for being late?

❓What would you do if you won the lottery?
❓What is your favorite book?

❓ Can you think of something to do on the spur of the moment?!

Finishing off the week every lady received a little vase of flowers for Mother's Day 🩷🌺🌻🌹🌸🌼

Let's take a look at last week's Activities...

💜 Starting with some 1-2-1 room visits chatting, sitting in the garden before & after lunch & enjoying a quiz, then some daffodil crafts. 🌸🪻🌞

💜 Great fun with the karaoke machine and music time, some room visits & fresh hairstyles! 🎶🎤✂️

💜 Looking at old photographs of Torquay, 1-2-1 room visits, karaoke and creative art! 🎨🖌️🎶🎤

💜 Some reminiscence in 1-2-1 chats, our weekly Church service with volunteers from St.Mags church, great music with Steve Upham & a visit to tea@3 sing -a-long with our friends at Upton Vale Baptist Church joined with our friends from Aveland Court. This was enjoyed very much by our residents! ☕🧁🎶⛪

💜 Decorating the painted memory boxes already completed and smiling at the photos to put inside! Followed by fun and games with Bingo! 🖌️🎨🌸🔢

🔴 It's that time again! Oh no it isn't! Red Nose Day/ Comic Relief charity Coffee Morning! 🔴Come & enjoy some delicious cakes with refreshments for a donation. Wear something red! 🔴Come & enjoy! Smile! 😀We look forward to seeing you! 🫖🔴☕❤️🧁

Another busy week with lots of variety! Here's a look back...🌱

🌱Monday- a trip to watch the indoor bowls & enjoy a cuppa at Torquay United, along with our friends from Aveland Court Care Home Torquay (our sister Home) & a local history afternoon with one of our volunteers listening to some fascinating stories about our local area! 🎱☕

🌱 Tuesday- Starting some daffodils & other arts & crafts & a welcome visit from Stmarychurch preschool children who brought plenty of smiles, laughter, singing & listening to the well known story "The very hungry caterpillar"! 🐛🎶🌱 There were also some fresh haircuts & styles for some of our ladies & gents! ✂️🪮

🌱 Wednesday- Brought a sunny start so a couple of our gentlemen enjoyed some time in the garden & one of them planted some late bulbs.
We then followed with planting some tomato seeds in egg boxes & a quiz. After lunch a couple of walks in the park & decorating some yummy cakes! 🌳🧁

🌱Thursday - Our weekly Church service with volunteers from St Mags Church with some hymn singing, a short service & some more personal room visits. In the afternoon we welcomed Bob & Isabelle with some great hits from the decades! 🙏❤️🎶🎤

🌱 Friday - Looking at some of the photos for our memory boxes, another walk in the park & some games of Bingo to round off the week!

Let's take a look back at a week of vibrancy...! 💥🎉🥢🏮🎶🍳

💥Monday - enjoying some Chinese lantern making & encouraging residents in clearing up & laying the table afterwards - promoting job roles & enabling residents in feeling valued! After lunch a walk in the park & a couple of games of Bingo! 🌳🏮🥢

💥 Shrove Tuesday - Flipping a pancake, pancake picture Bingo, some fun & laughter with karaoke & some fresh hairstyles! 🍳🥞🪮✂️🎶🎤

💥Wednesday - Quizzes about China, Chopsticks game & a welcome visit from our friends at Turning Heads Community Group! 🏮🥢❤️

💥 Thursday - a visit from the volunteers at St. Mags Church encouraging us with the weekly Church service, some nail care & followed after lunch by an afternoon of beautiful music from Aimee Evans - singer, had toes tapping & voices raised! ⛪🙏🎶🎤💅

💥 Friday - on the day when "Film came to Britain" we looked at some film quizzes, an A-Z game of sports & table top air hockey in line with the Winter Olympics. After which a few residents enjoyed a well- being visit to the Anchorage Hotel for refreshments! ❤️☕🧁🎥❄️⛸️⛷️

Our lunchtime topic discussions included -

"A film you enjoyed was ..."
