Emma has extensive experience in both junior and secondary schools supporting with trauma and critical incidents involving children and young people.

Stepping Forward into Child Therapy Training

In clinical training, there comes a moment when you feel called to move toward a specialism — a step that can feel both exciting and daunting. For me, choosing to specialise in child therapy was that turning point.

Working with children brings a unique energy into the therapy room. Their openness, creativity, and resilience often shine through, even in the face of significant challenges. While the work can be complex — involving families, schools, and multi-agency collaboration — the rewards are profound.

Supporting a child to find their voice, develop healthy coping strategies, and begin to heal from difficult experiences is a privilege like no other. Each small breakthrough, each moment of trust built, becomes a reminder of why this path is so meaningful.
