Around 20% of face and neck surgery I undertake are secondary or revision work. Most of my patients have undergone one previous face or neck lift in the past, but some have had as many as 3 previous surgeries (so I am doing the 4th!).

Face and neck lifting is technical and challenging surgery (which I very much enjoy) and sometimes the previous surgery can make it even more tricky, or otherwise the surgery has left issues and complications that need addressing.

This lovely patient of mine had had surgery in the past and was left with issues with scarring and contour irregularities to her neck (due to large and unaddressed submandibular salivary glands).

I was delighted with the changes achieved through secondary surgery, especially to the contour under the chin and the addressing of scars behind her ears. It has transformed her perspective, her confidence and her self-image!

What does having a face and neck lift actually mean to someone? What difference can it make to their life?

“Life changing” 😀

It was such a pleasure to see my patient only one month after her and

Even though this is a VERY early result and lots of changes will ensue, the changes to her neck and face have already made an enormous positive impact on her every day life

The first week or two are always hard work after this surgery - it is time-demanding and intricate, and the body takes time to recover. Not to mention the emotional and psychological rollercoaster everyone experiences. The first few days of “what have I done?” and the need to are part and parcel of the recovery.

However, I think her results (and her positive energy) are testament to it all being 😊

It was lovely to see my face and neck lift patient a year after surgery - I last saw her 6-months ago and since then, the confidence boost that her surgery has given her prompted her to radically change her lifestyle - exercising and eating more healthily. Amazingly, this resulted in her losing 2.5 stone (16kg)!

How people’s skin and soft tissues behave after weight loss following surgery can be very variable. One unknown is whether deflation of soft tissues will result in further sagging so it was really good to see how well my patient’s skin and soft tissues had held up after such weight loss in a relatively short period.

She really looks amazing and her positivity and confidence radiates as soon as she walks into the clinic 😊

One of the challenges some people experience over time is a profound increase in skin excess to the upper eyelids - when this is combined with a low eyebrow position, it can actually cause functional problems with a reduced visual field - “window shading”

This 48-year old patient is only 6-weeks after her upper blepharoplasty and you can already appreciate the reduction in skin and opening up of her eyes.

The “purist” might argue that she would also have benefited from a brow lift, and whilst I agree with this, it takes things up a level in terms of surgical involvement and it can always be done separately in the future and it is not always something a patient may want to do.

She has a wonderfully natural appearance that has alleviated her functional issues and given her an outcome where she still looks like herself 😊

Lovely to have visit us and spend time with me and in the OR. It had been far too long - I had not seen Francesca since my last days in early 2017!

There is no such thing as being too late to consider treating a lifelong anxiety or problem.

Breast under development can have a significant psychological and social impact and I am seeing an increasing number of patients in their 40s, 50s, 60s and even 70s 💪

This patient of mine is now one year after a subtle and proportionate breast augmentation using 170cc anatomical implants which are placed partly under the muscle.

It has given her a new chapter in her life, restored an incredible amount of confidence and given her the freedom not to be way down by her lifelong anxiety about how she always used to feel about her body image 😀
