☀️𝗛𝗼𝘁 𝗪𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗙𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗕𝗮𝗯𝘆 👩🍼
With more hot weather forecast it is important to take care of yourself and your baby to stay cool, hydrated and comfortable during feeding times.
Here are just a few top tips:
🥤Staying well-hydrated is crucial – if breastfeeding, keep a water bottle within reach. You will lose fluid while nursing and from sweat in the heat
👩🍼You can keep your baby hydrated by offering regular breastfeeds. Frequent, shorter feeds to quench their thirst and keep them cool
🍼For formula fed babies under 6mths extra water can be given between milk feeds. The water must be sterilised by boiling and then cooling
👕Choosing weather appropriate clothing can provide further comfort and prevent overheating – loose, breathable fabrics for Mam, cotton or bamboo vest or short romper for baby
☀️Use a lightweight muslin or cotton blanket to shield your baby from direct sunlight
🆒If possible, create a space in your home with good airflow and shade from sunlight, using a fan or air conditioning to regulate temperature
