Once I have cleaned all my instruments, they are autoclaved to 134 C to ensure they are sterilised.

A print out is then kept as a record and I have to document the cycle number on the instrument packages so that there is full traceability. I also record the cycle number on each clients notes corresponding to each instrument set and autoclave cycle.

A client recently sent me this photo of their hallux toe nail- after their recent run 🏃‍♀️ which was causing pain 😣. This is caused by constant trauma of the hallux (big toe) toenail hitting their trainer.

So here are some handy tips for runners:

🦶 Regularly Trim Your Nails-

When toenails get too long, they can become painful, catch on the front of your shoe, or cause blood to pool underneath the toenail. This is especially likely to happen when runners put in a lot of miles.

🦶 Address Painful Calluses

Calluses are thickened skin that form with friction, and corns are the same thing, but with a hardened center. Unfortunately, both can become painful, and running can exacerbate this discomfort.

🦶 Ward Off Athlete’s Foot

The condition can lead to itching, irritation, and even bacterial infections if it occurs between the toes. Extreme cases can cause cracking and bleeding

🦶 Invest in Good Shoes

Make sure the footwear is long enough and wide enough for your feet. Feet “splay,” or widen, as you step. Shoes that are too narrow can result in problems like ingrown toenails, calluses, blisters, subungual (under the nail) bleeding, or just general discomfort. “Remember, the front and sides of the feet should not make contact with edges of shoes.

🦶 Address Blisters Early

Not only are blisters painful, they can lead to nasty foot infections that sideline your training. Prevention is key

🦶 Moisturise your feet

When your feet get really dry, the skin can crack and become painful

A lovely lady had a medi-pedi first thing this morning 🌅 and whilst examining her feet I was able to inform the pain she was getting in the hallux was being caused by an ingrowing toenail 😖

So whilst I was there I was able to remove part of the nail causing trauma to the surrounding tissue.

Whilst I’m scrolling through FB I came across Oasis Therapy post and it struck a cord!

Social media is a great way for people to see my services but I always ensure I get consent before posting any photos and anything talked about is kept confidential🦶

🌟 Reviews and why I don’t use them 🌟

I used to show anonymous client reviews, now I've removed them.

In my work, I follow professional ethical guidelines from the NCPS, and that means I don’t ask clients for reviews or testimonials.

And honestly? I’m glad.

Therapy isn’t a product to be rated or compared.
It’s a relationship. A private one. A human one.

It creates a weird power imbalance when I ask clients to review our sessions. Which makes me (and probably them) uncomfortable.

So instead of stars and testimonials, I get something else:

People showing up.
Even when it’s hard.
Even when it’s messy.
Even when it would be easier not to.

That feels like the real “review” to me. 🙌

If anything, I think they deserve the review.
(And let’s be honest… it’s five stars from me.)

Therapy stays confidential, contained, and safely held between us.

And if you’re curious about working together, you’re very welcome to get in touch.

No pressure.
No reviews.
Just a conversation.

Corns can be very painful 😣

And are a small, thickened, and hardened, conical plug of skin, often with a central core, that develops on toes or soles due to chronic pressure or friction.

Do..

✅ wear thick, cushioned socks
✅ wear wide, comfortable shoes with a low heel and soft sole that do not rub
✅ use soft insoles or heel pads in your shoes
✅ soak corns and calluses in warm water to soften them
✅ regularly use a pumice stone or foot file to remove hard skin
✅ moisturise to help keep skin soft
