The last couple of years have really affected us all in some way, positively for some, but negatively for most - this is where The Open Birdcage can help! As the spring equinox approaches this March, did you know our ancestors once celebrated this as the true start of the year?

Before January claimed its place as the 1st month, March marked new beginnings across many civilisations. The Romans named their first month "Martius" after Mars, god of both war and agriculture. In England, March 25th remained New Year's Day until 1752!

Our ancestors understood this: the true new year begins not with a calendar date, but with the vibrant reawakening of the natural world. For centuries, civilisations marked March, not January, as the year's beginning, aligning their fresh starts with nature's own magnificent reset.

🌱 As March unfolds, the earth awakens with signs of rebirth - little buds pushing through soil, the singing birds returning to dawn skies, and sunlight stretching longer into our days.

30 Day Reset Challenge - Day 8 ⭐️

💋 Start to create a life that you love 💋

On Day 7 we reminded ourselves of the things that we love. We went back in time to remember what we loved as a child, the activities that made us feel truly happy!

What were those things? Can you pick out your top 10? Are your very favourite things a part of your life today? 🙏

Today, this is your challenge, to choose your top 10 favourite things from your huge list of loves. And once you've done, ask yourself HOW can you include these things in your life, right now✨️

Here's an example:
~ As a child I loved to paint 🎨

Action: get yourself off to one of the cheap shops and purchase some acrylic or water colour paint and a blank canvas. Allocate 1 hr to yourself, once a week and start painting.

I know this seems obvious but we get so caught up in the day-to-day stuff that sometimes it doesn't even occur to us to do the things that we like. So today, 'just do it' 🙏

Do this for all your top 10 things/activities, and don't forget to update your journal for each one. Take your time with this.

Think about:
~How you can bring each thing into your life.
~What time needs to be allocated.
~Where this needs to happen.
~When you can do it.
~Who can help you (if help is needed).

By doing this you're creating a life that you love just by doing the things that make you feel excited and alive, no matter how small each thing or activity is.

You are now designing your life, with purpose, intention and action.

30 Day Reset Challenge - Day 7 ⭐️

💋 My favourite things 💋

On Day 6 we reminded ourselves of the small changes we can make every day that will bring us closer to our goals. We also thought about the importance of repeating these small steps daily, so that habits are formed and new behaviours can come to life!

What are your small changes? Keep going with them, you'll be so glad at the end of the year, trust me 🙏

Today, can you gift yourself a bit of quiet time? A moment to sit down in a comfy chair, with a relaxing drink, some delicious food.. and of course - your journal ✨️

For a few minutes, sit back and think about all of the things that you love ❤️
Try to remember the things you cherished as a child. What are your wishes, hopes and dreams? What makes you feel truly happy? What makes your heart sing?

This can be things like:
Family
Pets
Your bed
Your garden
Trees
The sun
The smell of freshly cut grass
Chippy tea on a Friday..!!!

Anything...

When you're ready, start writing!
Write down every-single-thing that you can think of. And when you believe that you can't think of anything else, have another brain storm and go again.
Put your hand on your heart, ask your heart what you love and you'll receive very different answers. Everything you love is buried in there, get it all out and place it into your journal 📖

You can write these down as words, or as pictures - you choose!

This is your journal! Fill it up with all things that you love.

30 Day Reset Challenge - Day 6 ⭐️

💋 Self Analysis - Part 3 💋

On Day 5, you implemented a small daily change that will being you closer to achieving your goal. What was that change? Are you managing to stick to it?

Maybe the change was something like:
✨️Halving your daily biscuit intake
✨️Being kinder to yourself
✨️Taking a 10 minute walk

Whatever it was, keep going. Before you know it this'll just be a new habit, like brushing your teeth in the morning.

On Day 5, you also looked at the techniques that served you well in the past. For example:
✨️Attended a class alone, rather than going with friends (if your goal is to learn something new)
✨️Increase your fibre intake (if your goal is to become healthier)
✨️Writing in the local park (if your goal is to write a novel)

Whatever this was, try to use the same methods over and over again, until you succeed. Repetition, repetition, repetition to create habits will absolutely see you achieve your goals.

Remember to write down all of your findings in your journal for future reference. You'll look back at this one day and realise just how far you've come.

Imagine the person you want to be. Think of what your daily life, your habits, and routines would be. Start showing up to those habits and routines, start building them, step by step, and day by day. You don't become that person overnight. You build that person. Start building.

You ARE a success ⭐️

30 Day Reset Challenge - Day 5 ⭐️

💋 Self Analysis - Part 2 💋

How is your evening journaling coming along?

Do you find that you're noticing new and different things to be grateful for everyday?

Today, I felt grateful for a relaxing, hot shower after a busy day at work. When I need to calm my mind, I splash a few drops of my favourite aromatherapy oil onto a wet face cloth and hang it over the shower head. The steam from the shower releases the scent, which then helps me to clear my thoughts. This is also really effective if you use eucalyptus oil when you're a bit congested 🥰

On Day 4 you analysed your goal and gave yourself reasons as to why it's so important that this goal is a success. What did you find out? Did your results surprise you?

Now I'd like you to put yourself under the spotlight and ask yourself why you haven't achieved this goal in the past?

What did you try?
What methods did you use?
What didn't work?
Why didn't it work?
What did work?
Why did it work?
Did anybody help you?
Did you attempt it alone?

Again, write all of your answers in your journal and see what comes up..

When you highlight the things that worked well you can identify your strengths, then use these collectively to help you achieve the goal this time, once and for all 💪

30 Day Reset Challenge - Day 4 ⭐️

💋 Self Analysis - Part 1 💋

Hello, and welcome to Day 4 already!
How are your gratitude lists coming along?
What are you most grateful for today?
For me, it's my beautiful Grandson, all squidgy and perfect 💙

Don't forget to list 5 things, every day. This is really important 🙏

On Day 3, you picked a goal that you want to aim for and imagined yourself achieving that goal. You really felt the feeling of success and wrote this down in your journal.

Next, I'd like you to think really deeply about:
WHY do you want to achieve this goal?
WHO will be affected when you do?
WHO will be affected if you don't?
WHAT achieving this goal will allow you to do?
If things stay the same, what will happen?
If things stay the same, what won't happen?

Again, write all of this information down in your journal, giving as much detail as possible. You can give more than one answer to each question, there are no limits.

💋 Create a Goal 💋

How is that Journalling coming along?
Are you starting to get excited about adding stickers and other fun things to it?
Please.. tell me you've started using highlighters on those important points 😍
Don't forget to add your quick gratitude list at the end of every day...

On Day 1, I asked you to think of a goal that you'd like to achieve. Can you remember what that was? Just one goal for now, let's make this as achievable as possible.

Now, create a section in your journal named 'Goals' and write your goal down. Be really specific about your goal and even give it a deadline.

For example, "I want to be in the best shape of my life, by Dec 2024"

It's essential to know exactly what you want, rather than just guessing and hoping for the best.

You're now going to be a project manager of your own life. You're going to live every day full of purpose and intention, because each day you will do many small things that will bring you closer to your goal, and you're going to record all of this in your journal.

But for now, I'd like you to visualise yourself achieving your goal. Close your eyes and just imagine how you'll feel when you succeed ✨️
Think about this when you're cleaning your teeth, doing the washing up or having a shower, as much as you can, every single day.

Say your goal, out loud!! (Check your surroundings first, of course 😬)

Feel the moment, like it's happening to you right now and note how you feel in your journal.
Then enjoy those sweet dreams and feelings of success 🙌

30 Day Reset Challenge - Day 2 ⭐️

💋 Start being Grateful 💋

Create a section in your new Journal and name it 'Gratitude'.
Every night before you go to sleep, list 5 things you're truly grateful for in that moment.
You don't need to write an essay, just a quick list.. nice and simple. And don't overthink it, go back to basics, such as:

🙏 Being alive
🙏 A warm bed
🙏 My grandchild
🙏 This morning's cuppa
🙏 Getting to work safely

Did you know that expressing gratitude boosts happiness and decreases depression?
If that isn’t enough, grateful people also experience greater life satisfaction and are less likely to be envious or anxious.

They’re more empathetic, forgiving, hopeful, generous and less materialistic.

To gain these benefits for yourself, write your gratitude list every evening for 30 days and just notice the difference you start to feel in yourself.
