It's recently come to light that Jordan Peterson has been very poorly and has been diagnosed with CIRS (Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome)

This is somebody that's famous, has the funds and access to the best Drs but yet has been poorly most his adult life and they think a lot of it has to do with mould and CIRS.

In short CIRS is the body/immune systems response to mould and the mould toxins.

These are just some of the symptoms people dealing with chronic mould/CIRS have to deal with on a daily basis.

The reality of dealing with Mold and Fungal infections is that we need to take antifungal treatment to re-balance the levels in the body. We often have mold/fungal colonization in the digestive tract as well as potentially in the sinuses.

To clear the colonization, the mold/fungus must be killed off and then the body can rebalance the good/bad bacteria/fungus levels in the body and allow healing and symbiosis.

The hardest part about all this?! The toxins and endotoxins from the damaged mold/fungus are highly poisonous to the body. It's actually very similar to the toxin related to hangovers "acetaldehyde" - also very similar symptoms to a hangover with 0 of the fun.

"When Candida cells die, they release dozens of toxins—including acetaldehyde, uric acid, ammonia, and cell wall fragments—into your bloodstream."

So you have additional toxins from candida on top of the additional toxins from mold such as endotoxins and biotoxins and the body has to deal and process these ON TOP of all the symptoms and damage the body already has from dealing with these chronic infections on a daily basis.

The typical symptoms from die off after antifungal treatment :-

Physical symptoms
Flu-like feelings are common. Here’s what many people report and why they happen:

Fatigue or exhaustion – Immune activity and inflammation redirect energy toward cleanup, leaving you tired.

Headaches – Often linked to acetaldehyde and vascular changes;
hydration and mineral-rich meals can help.

Muscle and joint aches – Inflammatory signals and fluid shifts can cause soreness and stiffness.

Digestive upset – Bloating, gas, constipation, diarrhea, cramping, or nausea as the microbiome shifts and motility changes.

Fever and chills – Low-grade fevers can occur as immune cells become more active.

Skin rashes or itching – The skin helps eliminate toxins; brief flares or hives can appear, then settle.

Temporary worsening of existing symptoms – Digestive issues, sinus congestion, or skin problems can spike before they improve.

Mental and emotional symptoms
Die-off can affect mood and cognition too. These often improve as your toxin load eases:

Brain fog – Trouble concentrating or feeling “spaced out”.

Mood swings – Irritability or emotional sensitivity during the inflammatory window.

Anxiety or low mood – Toxin load and inflammation can influence neurotransmitters; gentle pacing helps.

Sleep changes – Insomnia or restless sleep; a consistent wind-down routine can help reset rhythms.

Why symptoms vary
Intensity and duration depend on several factors. If you tend to react strongly to supplements, build more slowly:

Size and location of your overgrowth – Larger intestinal loads may release more by-products at once.

How aggressive your protocol is – Faster changes often mean stronger, shorter reactions.

Liver and gut detox capacity – Supportive nutrients and regularity matter.

Other health conditions or sensitivities – Histamine issues, IBS, or migraines can amplify responses.

Pacing – Staggering changes reduces peak intensity.

There is a chance that I have to deal with these additional symptoms for 1 year + to have any chance of rebalancing my body and gut, it's not an easy task as these symptoms are brutal on top of my day to day symptoms and life. But without addressing the colonization and restoring balance, the damage throughout the body will get worse and worse and more permanent damage will happen.

Damned if i do damned if i don't, but this is the reality and the only chance i have of achieving long term healing.

Could Keto+MCT oil be the answer?

We know that the main food source for mold/fungus are primarily sugars, but it does also seem that they can adapt to fat/ketones as a fuel source as well. So that can often lead us wondering well what are we actually ok to eat when dealing with chronic mold/fungus/digestive issues?!

What if we were able tailor a diet so that we were able to eat as few sugar/carbs as possible, whilst having a steady and stable energy source at the same time as having antifungal/antimicrobial properties?

This is where Keto+MCT oil comes into play....By following Keto macros (75/20/5) Fat/Protein/Carbs - we should be in ketosis and producing ketones. So we are providing as little fuel as possible in the form of sugars/carbs to the mold/fungus but we will be running on ketones which i mentioned earlier can also be used as a fuel source for mold/fungus only this time we are adding MCT oil on top. MCT oil has very strong antifungal properties and it's rapidly converted into ketones which provide the brain and body a steady supply of energy, so not only are we providing energy we are also providing an antifungal at the same time!

Depression - is definitely one of the most difficult things to deal with when dealing with chronic illness. Since there can be so many different causes and then so many different solutions, as well the solution can depend on the cause! I'm just going to touch on two things which can massively make a difference to my depression type symptoms :-

Firstly is diet! It's huge how much diet effects my mood - rubbish and toxic food that is full of sugars/seed oils etc may taste amazing but the blood sugar rises, insulin spikes and increased inflammation can all play a big part in how we feel afterwards. There's also histamine releases and oxalates to consider on top! With healthy eating it isn't always about the diet you ARE eating, but can be about the foods we are NOT eating - by cutting out sugar/gluten/dairy etc we are cutting out the potential trigger foods.... We know serotonin plays a big part in depression and the gut and serotonin have a big connection.

Still on the topic of diet - i know from my own personal experience my mental health is a 100x better when my body/brain is mainly running on ketones from low carb high fat compared to the glucose rollercoaster of ups/downs.

Lastly inflammation plays a huge role in my depression/mental health symptoms. Anything that triggers and increases inflammation can play a part :-

Medications
Diet
Toxins
Illness
IBD
Mold
Alcohol
Sugary diet
Poor sleep
Stress/Arguments

TLDR - the two biggest factors in my depression type symptoms relate to diet and inflammation!

Running - One of the best additions to my healing journey.

With chronic illness, exercise and running can be a bit of a double edged sword. You don't want to use all the body's readily available energy and resources and leave yourself with nothing afterwards, but the benefits of running can be some of the most beneficial for us, so as with anything it's a balancing act.

These are the benefits I personally get from running (Even dealing with mold and chronic health problems for 20+ years)

✅ Mental health improvements - it's by far the biggest boost mentally out of anything. Improved and calmer mood at the same time is win win! Literally an anti-depressant.
✅ Decision making is improved - less hesitation
✅ Learning - I'm able to learn and take information in sooo much better after a run.
✅ Overall fitness and breathing improvements.
✅ Self challenge
✅ Community/Social aspect (Doing 5k park runs/small races or running with family)
✅ Sounds cliché - but running improves my energy around 80% of the time with the other 20% of the time when i pushed my body to it's limits when i shouldn't of.
✅ Improved sleep so long as run isn't too late at night.
✅ More talkative/chatty.
✅ Can think more clearly with a sharper mind.

Make sure to start of slow and low mileage and build yourself up over time. Allow plenty of time for rest and recovery between runs and make sure to optimize diet alongside (whichever diet works for you but make sure to keep good macros protein/carbs/fat ratios especially before or after runs when the body is either fueling or repairing.
