Autumn is 100% my favourite time of year 🍂🍁

However, now the nights are dark and cold why not try online classes from the warmth of your own home?

Pilates based classes, lead by an experienced osteopath. I’m also a qualified Yoga teacher, so there’s something for everyone in these sessions - stretch, strengthen and calm.

Classes are £6 and the link to book is in the bio. If you have any questions, please feel free to send me a message 📩

Pilgrims Way 🚲

Rochester 👉🏻 Ashford 👉🏻 Canterbury
(National Cycle Route 17 & 18)

A lovely mix of off road trails and country lanes, rolling hills and old haunts finishing off along the beautiful River Stour into Canterbury city centre. And how strange that whilst we were sat enjoying our coffee, an old lady started chatting and it turns out it was her who had campaigned for 18 years for the river path to be put in place, a real life hero 🙌🏻😍

Just the adventure we needed 🍂💚

Today in here all this happened:

- teaching a patient with chronic inflammatory pain how to move and breathe to help relieve some of their symptoms

- a heart felt discussion with a patient about their mental health and making the calls to get them the help they need

- working with a injured runner and planning their return to a 5k run

- working with a patient with severe migraines and celebrating them being headache free for two weeks

- a 1:1 yoga session

- hips and lower backs - diagnosing and treating a number of patients pain

Love my varied work - osteopathy is so much more than ‘bones’ 💙

I’ve loved today and have ticked two big boxes on my bucket list - a marathon and the Tunbridge Wells Circular 🤙🏻🍾

I’m not sure at which point I decided doing both of those things together would be a good idea and if I’m honest after the marathon part was ticked off, I was over running and the last 4 miles were not my favourite! 😂 Without a doubt, and his support bike and with her pop up snack shop at mile 20 made it and I would not of finished it without them. Thank you both!! 😍😍

A big congratulations to everyone else who ran both in London and virtually, I’ve heard lots of fab stories already. 💙🏃🏼‍♀️🍾

A flat lay.. not usually recommended as your only marathon preparation 😅😬😂

We’re going cross country and taking it as it comes. A massive good luck to everyone running virtually and ‘in real life’ tomorrow!! How exciting that such great events like these are back to business 💙

What an amazing event, The Butterfly Relay, concluded today after 5 months of running, cycling and swimming. All to raise awareness and funds for Solving Kids Cancer, a small charity who support families and children with neuroblastoma.

One of my amazing clients Clare, whose daughter Hannah would of turned 21 this year, wanted to mark her birthday by doing something fantastic, and my gosh she did! I think she deserves an MBE…😉

This is an incredible amount of money raised by all 235 participants and as a team we absolutely left behind the original 21,000km target! The money is so so so gratefully received by the charity and will fund important work going forwards.

Such an incredible journey - I have loved leading the classes to keep the participants in shape and injury free. So honoured to be involved and so proud of achievements 🦋👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🍾🍾🎉🎉

YOGA 🧘🏼‍♀️

I had confirmation over the weekend that I am now a fully fledged yoga instructor 🥂🍾

Couldn’t resist celebrating on this rock, 600m up, completely surrounded by some of the tallest peaks in the country and not a soul to see for miles - I wish I could share the sound of true SILENCE with you via a photo. I would love to know if anyone else has struck a pose on this rock before?! 🏔

Quite unlike me, I’m not yet 100% sure how I’m going to bring yoga into my work - whether it’s classes, workshops, online or something completely different.. watch this space!

6am wake up call for a dip in a pool we found yesterday. I’m used to cold water but this was something different - had to channel my best to get the shoulders under 🏔❄️ fingers and toes burning but so invigorating! 😅

YOGA 🧘🏼‍♀️

Finally completed all of my assessments of my Yoga teacher training course (all I need now is the results!).

I was massively inspired by and her book ‘Brave, Not Perfect’ which I read recently and so that was the theme of my exam class.

Lots of heart openers, balances, intuitive movement and building the fire in your belly (and legs 😉). Letting go of the idea of perfection in these poses and moving in a way that feels right to you.

Not my usual kind of thing to teach, but I was hugely inspired to ‘fear less, fail more and live bolder’ as Reshma says 💛 so here goes..

I’ve popped it on my YouTube channel for anyone who would like to give it a go (search Amy Pay Wellbeing) 💫

OSTEOARTHRITIS 🦴

A common condition we see in clinic which mainly affects the larger joints in the body such as the hips and knees.

This patient is booked for a replacement in a few months but in the mean time we’ll work together to ensure he goes into surgery in the best possible condition. This involves hands on treatment to keep his pain in check as well as a carefully designed prehab programme working on his strength, mobility, co-ordination and balance.

We know that a prehab programme prior to surgery can improve post operative pain and function. Some studies have even shown that those who added strength and flexibility exercises in to their routines 6 weeks before surgery (longer is better!) reduced their odds of needing inpatient rehab by up to 73%.

Essentially, prehab aims to get you back on your feet quicker and improves the outcomes of your surgery.
