Rest & De-stress channeled autumn, leaning into letting go, slowing down and finding rest.

Many people that came have very busy lives, juggling, work, family, caring responsibilities.

They told me how important it felt for them to take time to slow down, it eased tiredness in their body and mind and gave them space to remember that they are important too. It’s not selfish or a waste of time for them to do something that serves them 💜

Some people who came have been to Rest & De-stress many times, others, it was their first time!

These days are always about the little touches to support the whole body to relax.

Thank you Otter & Sky for creating a blend of essential oils especially for this event, it’s call REST and smelt incredible! Everyone had a roller ball to take away with them.

Thank you Celia for the most incredible apple cake that we had ever tasted!

I felt incredibly grateful throughout the afternoon to share these practices of nervous system regulation, with such beautiful people.

Join us at the next one! 14th Dec ✨

Or visit the Rest Nest, for a 3 hr 1:1 Rest & De-stress, including yoga, breath work, meditation and reiki.

This is us on a Monday morning and we absolutely love it!

We have so much fun every session, laughing, smiling, connecting, it’s what it’s all about!

I don’t think I have ever been to this class and not left with an enormous smile on my face!

We do breath work, gentle moving and have a sing and a dance to elevate the heart rate.

We do lots with the feet and balance to help reduce the risk of falls and increase confidence.

There is always relaxation at the end of the class and then tea and biscuits and more time to chat 💜

Today, Juliet told me that it’s helped her mobility in her neck and shoulders so much and made such a difference to her life 🥹

Come and join us, every Monday 10:30am, Malbourgh Court, Bideford, £3.

Such a friendly, warm and welcoming group of people.

What a weekend! My heart is so full 💜

Yesterday, hosting the open day, where our trainees, who I have been mentoring the past several months, completed their assessment for their group class, they were amazing! ✨

This morning, the trainees did their final 1:1 assessments and I held the space for the closing circle of our breath work & meditation training 🎉 I felt so inspired by the graduates and the meaningful way they shared the practice.

Then this afternoon, Rest & De-stress! With beautiful people, it was incredible. I feel so much gratitude to be doing this work.

More about rest and destress tomorrow! Right now, I’m going to rest and get ready for the week ahead.

I hope you are having a beautiful weekend 💜

✨ Rest vs Sleep ✨

We often treat sleep and rest as the same thing — but they’re not.

🛌 Sleep is when your body repairs tissues, consolidates memories, and restores physical energy.

🌿 Rest is when you create space while awake for your body and mind to pause, reset, and regulate.

You can get 8 hours of sleep (if your lucky 😅) and still feel drained if your nervous system hasn’t had the chance to truly rest.

This is where restorative yoga comes in.

With the support of props, stillness, and deep comfort, restorative yoga invites your nervous system to shift from fight-or-flight into rest-and-digest.

🤍 Muscles release tension
🤍 Breath slows and deepens
🤍 The mind feels safe to settle

It’s not just “doing nothing” — it’s active rest that nourishes your whole system.

✨ Sleep restores your body.
✨ Restorative yoga restores your nervous system.

Have you given yourself time to rest today? 🌸

Join me for Rest & De-stress this Sunday.

Rest & De-stress one week today 💜🎉

This event will take you from feeling overwhelmed, stressed out and like theres not enough hours in the day, to feeling, CALM, CLARITY, CONNECTED back into yourself and the things you love.

I will welcome you into the beautiful space that I create.

I will guide you through breath work, meditation, gentle movement.

We break for tea and cake 🍰 and wonderful conversation.

Then yoga nidra, a deep rest meditation known as a ‘yogic sleep’, which is healing for your mind and body. You truly switch off from everything around you.

All of this is sprinkled with extra bits of specialness along the way 💜

It really is a joy for me to create for you, a space that can support your body and mental health. It’s fundamental to everything I do. It’s the culmination of everything I have learnt over the years of working with mental health, stress and burnout.

And it’s an absolutely BEAUTIFUL afternoon 💜

I’m back in London on my yoga therapy course, attending in person for the first time since Nov last year!

Due to life events, I’ve had to attend the last few modules online but it feels so good to attend in person again do something for me.

As a woman, a caregiver, a nurturer, it’s so important to do something for you.

Whether that’s studying, following your passion, a coffee with a friend.

Something where you can step away from all those other roles that you have in life, and you can be YOU.

Do the things you love and enjoy and reminds you of who you are, which can get lost along the way, when you pour all of yourself into others.

I love my family, they are my life, but I’m also me in my own right and having time to do things for me, makes me a better person when I’m with them.

The skies are blue, the weather is amazing. I’ve done a 2 hour yoga therapy session, a Thai chi practice, kundalini practice and yoga nidra. I would never have done all this at home, that’s why it’s so important to carve out dedicated time for yourself.

I’m excited to be back with my friends, to immerse in subjects I’m passionate about, to learn, to expand and to remind myself who I am.

You can do this too.

The past 16 months, a situation in life has felt extremely difficult.

It drained me to the point where I felt completely out of touch with myself.

I wasn’t depressed, I’ve been depressed before and I knew, this was not that.

This was a sense of complete powerlessness and this, lead to, hopelessness.

I felt powerless because I was moving against systems, institutions and societal structures, that I had no control over. Decisions were in other people’s hand, I fought as much as I could, but it didn’t make any difference.

But how could I not fight? The stakes were too high. Because it wasn’t happening to me, it was happening to someone I love.

It seeped into all parts of my being. It was all I could do to get through each day. But inside I felt hallow.

No joy, no laughter, no hope.

Yoga tells us about the layers of a person, with the bliss body being at the centre of you, where you connect to joy, to the things that fulfil you, excite you. I had nothing there.

Until this summer. A break from it all. From the systems, from the battle, from the constant emails, phone calls and the heavy weight of enormous worry.

I returned to myself.

I remembered that I do have choices. Perhaps not about outcomes and decisions, but about how I choose to move forward.

I’ve realised my strength. I am a warrior, I am empowered, I decide how I let situations affect me. I can take time to rest and rebuild my energy before it gets completely depleted.

I will continue to use my voice to advocate for change and I will rest and replenish, because you can’t do anything from a place of exhaustion.

I will listen to my gut, I will do what I know is right, and I will hold my loved ones dear and tight.

I have the capacity to hold big emotions for others, to guide and support them to know their inner wisdom, so that they can thrive, be a warrior, but also find the softness within and rest when needed. Because we can do both.

Take time to rest, to replenish, to hear your own voice, your own wisdom. So that you can rebuild your energy.

Join me for Rest & De-stress half day retreat.

Book today.

We move forward together 💜

I love Mondays! 💜

This is Mike, from our Monday Chair yoga group.

I first met Mike around 5 years ago, when I was running a project with the NHS to support people with diabetes.

It was Covid times, and Mike joined my chair yoga class over zoom. He found the physical benefits to be profound and enjoyed the connection with others that this class gave, during those difficult Covid times.

And then last September, we met in person! As Mike started attending this class. It was an emotional reunion 🥹

Mike says, ‘even at 86 - you can still enjoy yoga, it’s my lifeline to mobility . This has enabled me to continue to enjoy life more’.

Isn’t he incredible. Thank you for inspiring me all those years ago Mike and inspiring me with your wit and kindness every Monday morning 💜

Come and join us!

Chair yoga for seniors, Marlbough Court, Bideford, Mondays 10:30am, £3.

We do chair yoga and then you can stay for a cuppa and a chat, which is a big part of this group.

Everyone welcome!

2 weeks off and back to work 💜

I’ve had such an amazing time off with my family, going slowly, not being held to time scales, doing what we choose, I find this so freeing and relaxing!

Reminding myself what’s important in life, finding laughter, joy, light moments, moments that have felt out of reach for a long time.

This time together was so needed and has given me the energy to carry on with my studies, my work reminding me why I’m doing it all; for my family 💜

What a great way to come back to work, Free yoga in the park on a beautiful sunny bank holiday Sunday, with over 60 people.

Then chair yoga class on bank holiday Monday, with these wonderful souls, who inspire me each week and this is why I love what I do!

Barb is 91! Isn’t she amazing!

Then my private class for adults with learning disabilities, I have missed them so much.

Back to my 1:1 today and beginners yoga class tonight, Torrington 7pm, still some spaces if you would like to come along.

Friday/Saturday this week, I will be at Sheb Fest, bringing you yoga, meditation, breath work and reiki, come and say hello to us in the well-being area.

I have some spaces in The Rest Nest next week, for your individual session of rest & relaxation. I tailor the practice to meet your needs. Gentle yoga, reiki, meditation, breath work, time for you to rest and rejuvenate, with tea and cake too! Message me to book your space.

This is where we slow things down, take things at your pace and you join the rest revolution!

Can’t wait to see you.

Yoga in nature started again this week!

Everyone was so pleased to be back and said what a difference it made to them, having some time in the day, to be outside and to slow down.

The weather was mixed but it didn’t matter! We felt the sun, the breeze, a few light spots of rain, it was glorious 💜

Our culture tells us that you have to go, go go, that you always need to be doing something, to be achieving or striving, but it’s not true.

You need to rest and replenish, you need to nourish your body and mind, just as the rain and the sun nourish the grass and the trees, you need nourishment too.

You need time to do the things that you love, to find that joy within this helps to still the mind, to ease worry and anxiety. This helps to soothe the body. I helps you look at things from a new perspective.

It is okay to take time for you, it gives you more patience with your children, more capacity to support your friends, more yest to do the things that you love in life, so by nourishing yourself, you are also nourishing all of these around you.

Come and join me next week for yoga and nature!

What do you do to nourish yourself?
