Not everyone has the flexibility to attend classes on a weekly basis.

Please get in touch if a one-off, 6 hour workshop interests you. I am putting a list of names together. I need 5 couples to run a group workshop, so ask other expectant parents and please let me know.

Me, 8 months pregnant, floating in my childhood lido, in the summer sun.

There's no better photo which sums up how I felt during my pregnancy as I learnt Mindful Hypnobirthing techniques.

You see, the tools you learn are not for labour alone, they support mum and baby in pregnancy too.

I developed the ability to relax and switch off from unnecessary over-thinking. My sleep improved, even drifting off to sleep was easy. My energy reserves were being topped up every night.
I also loved my pregnant body, no, I adored it...my body confidence went through the roof!

The baby and I were the priority whilst I worked full-time as a SEN teacher. I invested lots of time in practicing and listening to my chosen tracks to deepen my relaxation experience.

Over just a few weeks I could see how my willingness to use gentle hypnotherapy had a direct influence on my ability to be confident in my physical and mental ability. This reassured my birth partner and made our planning for birth and beyond really easy. After a month of practice I started feel an excitement for birth that I'd not had before.

Our birth was wonderful and life-changing. It had twists and turns that we navigated together with confidence since studying the book and attending the course.

I have been a trained practitioner in Mindful Hypnobirthing for 2 years now. I provide courses for Pregnancy and Birth and Post-natal life in the first year.

Whether you are looking for a private course or have met other pregnant parents you'd like to learn with in person or online, I can provide the course which suits you.

I'm based in Brixham and I'm happy to travel to your home or chosen venue.

"MOTHERS HELP" AVAILABILITY

Since lockdowns and home-schooling my availability has somewhat changed.

I am available to help in both practical and therapeutic capacities during the day on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. Here are some scenarios of how you may feel and how I can help:

1. Family live a fair distance away and you need caring and knowledgeable support on a Monday morning to kick-start your week, put the kettle on, have a 'download chat' and an unrushed shower would be nice!

2. Since giving birth you are anxious and find it very difficult to relax even for 5 minutes and just want to feel more peaceful for a while to compensate for the lack of sleep but don't know where to start.

3. Making a cup of tea seems a tall order and drinking it whilst it's hot, well that never happens. To just sit down, hands-free and have the pressure taken off for a while would be nice.

4. Hypnobirthing interests you and you're keen to start practicing techniques during your pregnancy but don't feel like venturing out yet.

As a qualified Hypnobirthing Practitioner I am trained to support women to find deep relaxation through breath work, meditation and mindful relaxation techniques. These techniques are not confined to a labouring mother and her partner. Hypnotherapy and mindful relaxation are very important and extremely beneficial during pregnancy and in the first years.

The pic below is Martha and I. She was a mere 4 days old. I felt wonderfully well and wanted to get out and about most mornings. Afternoons were spent snuggling on the sofa and wrapping her close to me all the time around the house and for short walks out in the fields. She was my hypnobirthing healing baby. Now she is nearly 3 years old and has enough energy for all of us!

I'm glad you're here, how can I help?

Are you at the start of your hypnobirthing journey? Perhaps you're sure hypnobirthing is right for you and you need to convince you're other half? Maybe your first birth was an experience which holds you back a little or a lot? Perhaps you have started reading Mindful Hypnobirthing by Sophie Fletcher and want to know more? Maybe you love meditation and have started practicing breathing techniques? Maybe you're in a different place?

Whatever stage you are at, you will want to find the right person to guide you through to birth and beyond. It can be quite a personal decision, so take your time.

Will I be your Mindful Hypnobirthing practitioner? Well, here's a bit more about me to help with that decision.

I used Mindful Hypnobirthing techniques for my second birth to Martha. Despite it being a high-risk, induced labour, I can say in all honesty and with great pride, that it was an exciting and euphoric birth for myself and my husband. The experience of a calm and informed pregnancy, understanding my body better and knowing our decision-making power as parents gave us tools to use and bag loads of confidence. My first birth really held me back in a number of ways and I look back, as we all do, and I wish I had had the knowledge I have now. But, that's not to dwell on anymore, I used my first experience to shape the next.

I have been a qualified secondary teacher since 2007, teaching Dance, Drama, English and then specialising in SEN tutoring (see link to my tutoring page). This year I became a Weleda Wellbeing Advisor so I can advise you on all natural products for a natural way of life for you, your baby and your family (see my growing FB shop). Two years ago we moved to live be the sea and I began my recovery from a heart attack (see link below). Sea-swimming, walks with my dog, beachcombing, craft, baking with my girls and gardening are a few of the things which make my heart sing.

I’m sorry you’ve been so badly let down during this pandemic. I’m sorry you’ve been forced to attend hospital appointments and endure early labour on your own.
I’m sorry they redeployed health visitors and breast feeding experts so you’ve had zero support.
I’m sorry you’ve been stuck in your house unable to attend the baby classes that can be a lifeline for your mind.
I’m sorry that our childcare sector is on its knees leaving many of you unable to secure the childcare you need so that you can return to work.
I’m sorry that your mental health is probably in tatters but services are so oversubscribed that you may have to wait months and months before you get the help you need.
I’m sorry that 230,000 of you have had to sign a petition to ask that your maternity leave is extended, and after all your tenacious and passionate campaigning, this request has now been dismissed by our Government.
I’m sorry you are being ignored. Please know that things will get better, I promise they will. Keep fighting.

Movement......especially mindful movements are a way to connect deeply with your body during pregnancy. The subtle shifts and changes your body makes each and every day often go unnoticed in the busyness of life. Do you stop to connect, to move where you body wants to go, do you notice your baby?

👂🏼We are learning so much about our bodies and consciousness - to listen to your body's need and to act on it is a powerful expression of self-care.
👣 A download track recorded just for this...No guidance by me into positions that you should be doing, only suggestions for you to listen and follow your own body's guidance. It can be used during labour as well - always remember that movement can guide you into your birth zone.

Mindful Hypnobirthing is the UK's first award winning one day Hypnobirthing workshop. 6 hours really is all the time you need to concrete your confidence and preparation for your baby's birth.

You don't need to feel scared, fearful or apprehensive about birth, although that is normal. Using a powerful combination of mindfulness, hypnosis and relaxation techniques I will ensure you feel genuinely excited and completely prepared for birth. In fact, Mindful Hypnobirthing provides parents-to-be with the knowledge they need to feel empowered throughout pregnancy, birth and into your baby’s first year.

The workshop is very affordable and uniquely, every practitioner has been taught by the author Sophie Fletcher.

You will discuss your birth preferences and how you want to feel during pregnancy, labour and birth. You will learn that the stages of birth are a unique process.
