One of our lovely rooms on the birthing unit 🥰

Our beautiful Bluebell birthing room 💙

Have you ever thought about your birth environment?

When you want to relax in the evening what do you do? Light a candle, dim the lights and put on some music? Why should labour and birth be any different!

Evidence shows that your birthing environment plays an important role in the production of oxytocin (Love Hormone 😍) which is vital for labour progression.

A warm room, with space to mobilise and dimmed/ambient lighting are all options on the birth centre for adapting the birth environment.

Take a look at the link below for more ideas on how to get that oxytocin flowing 💕

*Urgent update from PAHT*

We are absolutely gutted to inform you all we have just received this statement from the trust. We totally understand how hard this must be to hear and we’re doing everything we can to be your voices.

“Due to the unprecedented impact on our services from the new Omicron covid-19 variant within the maternity service, we have had to take the difficult decision to alter the visiting arrangements. The changes will take place from the 22nd December to keep you and our staff safe.

Only 1 nominated person in labour
Visiting on the wards will be between 1-5pm
All antenatal appointments will be for the woman/pregnant person to attend only
Scans continue to be both woman for pregnant person and the partner. Negative lateral flows must be done and uploaded onto the government website to show to staff
Attendance to MFAU (maternal and fetal assessment unit) will be for the woman/pregnant person to attend only
Any partners who are covid positive are not able to attend the hospital and must follow government guidance on isolation
Face masks must be worn for all appointments and within the hospital setting at all times, unless exempt
No children are able to attend any appointments either within the hospital or community setting

We appreciate your support during these challenging times”
