𝑵𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒎𝒃𝒆𝒓 𝑵𝒆𝒘 𝑴𝒐𝒐𝒏

Today's New Moon in Scorpio marks the end of this Lunar cycle, and ushers in the new. It is the start of new beginnings so is a time to rest, be kind to yourself, and release that which no longer serves you.

Today is also the perfect day for cultivating your spiritual practice and thinking about your plans and manifestations for the coming new Lunar cycle.

If you can, try to cleanse your living space by decluttering and burning incense to remove any stagnant energies. As you do this, think of anything you need to let go of - bad habits, unhealthy relationships, negative thought patterns - and gently tell yourself that you release and let these things go with ease.

If you can, honour yourself with a hot bath with salts and essential oils and listen to a guided meditation, as you make space for the new Lunar cycle and, with it, new habits and manifestations.

After, take a few moments to meditate, practice breathwork, and write down all the things that you wish to welcome into your life in the coming month. Write them as affirmations, for example :

"I am manifesting all that aligns with my highest potential."

"I welcome abundance in to my life now."

"I have unlimited potential to create an authentic, prosperous life."

Once you have written down your affirmations, read them aloud, with feeling and intention, and close with a statement like "I welcome transformation."

If you like, you can burn the paper (safely of course) to seal and send your intentions out into the universe. Remind yourself of these intentions throughout the month.

Throw back to a couple of weeks ago when the sun was shining and the sound of nature inspired a little outdoor yoga session with inversions...

Inversions can be a powerful part of your yoga practice. An inversion refers to any asana in which the head is below the heart. Postures like headstand (Sirsasana), handstand (Adho Mukha Vrksasana), forearm stand (Pincha Mayurasana), and shoulder stand (Sarvangasana), do take some practice - but can be wonderfully beneficial and a valuable tool in your practice.

That said, inversions are not for everyone and certain contraindications should be observed so as not to cause or exacerbate previous injuries or illnesses. Conditions like unmedicated high blood pressure, certain heart conditions, neck injuries, recent stroke, detached retina, glaucoma and epilepsy are issues that should be discussed before inverting - and with such arguments inversions may be best avoided. Similarly, if you have back issues you should approach with care. Always talk with your doctor and yoga teacher if you are unsure.

It is also recommended that you don't perform inversions on the first few days of menstruation.

The power of Soma Breath.

I discovered this type of powerful meditation last year, by chance. The way you rhythmically breathe in time with the music really inspired me - it is a really uplifting practice that thrusts you into a deep meditative space pretty rapidly.

This is achieved through a special breathing technique known as intermittent hypoxic training, where you learn to hold the breath in a variety of ways, allowing a deep meditative connection in the spaces between the breath.

Soma is a system created by The Renegade Pharmacist Niraj Naik, and is based on ancient yogic breathing techniques, or pranayama, uniquely adapted for the modern world. Using amazing uplifting music and powerful guided visualisation techniques, Soma creates a deeply healing experience and a fast track to deep meditative states.

It's really powerful stuff and I have found it to be really transformative - so much so that I have decided to train how to lead Soma classes myself to add to my teaching practice.

Hello lovelies, and happy Ostara - today is the Spring Equinox.

I know I have been on the missing list for a couple of months, my life took some turns that seriously challenged me and so social media had to wait on the back burner...

But as always, the universe provided just when I was losing hope - and now I am privileged to be living in the most spiritual place surrounded by mother nature. I am truly blessed.

So, I am now happily returning to my practice, my god how I've missed it, and with today's equinox marking the start of the days getting longer, I am looking forward to plenty of yoga in the forest... 💫

If you can, take some today to think about what you are grateful for and to appreciate today, where day and night are equal length, marking the coming spring. This is a time for growth and fertility in everything - especially what you manifest. So think about what you want to grow and flourish this year, and if you can, walk on the grass and feel it in between your toes to connect to the earth. Trust me... You'll understand why 😉

Brighter days are imminent for us all.

Vᴀʟᴇɴᴛɪɴᴇ's Dᴀʏ - A Cᴇʟᴇʙʀᴀᴛɪᴏɴ ᴏғ Lᴏᴠᴇ.

Today is the day to celebrate love and the affairs of the heart. But the sad thing is, we often forget to include ourselves when we're sharing out the love.

In these difficult times where we have been starved of human contact and left alone with for far too long with our negative and self critical thoughts, our heart chakra - or anahata chakra in sanskrit - can become blocked.

So give YOURSELF the valentine's gift of self love, with a simple heart chakra mudra and some powerful affirmations to promote self love.

Hold your hands in the Padma or Lotus mudra as depicted in the picture above, and read the affirmations aloud.

(The term mudra applies to the use of hand gestures during meditation that carry specific goals of channeling your body’s energy flow. The use of mudras is a powerful tool for self-care and empowerment and there are over a hundred!)

Follow with some deep, cleansing breaths, with your hand on your heart, and try to really feel your heartbeat and connect to your heart.

And remember - you don't have to wait for valentines day to do this! A few minutes each day of heart chakra healing methods can really make a difference to your life.

Exactly that.

Sometimes, when everything seems to be going wrong, you feel like you're getting a "run of bad luck" or that everyone is out to get you.

What you probably didn't consider is that you have a big role to play in the bad energy coming your way. Whatever you think about the most and give the most attention to, you are essentially saying to the universe that you want more of it!! So if you're putting out energy that says nothing ever goes right for me, I never get what I want out of life and I'll never get what I want out of life - then guess what?

That's what you're telling the universe you want more of! 😱

Try instead, to be aware of all the good you DO have. Get into a gratitude mindset, reminding yourself upon waking and before bed, all that you have to be grateful for. You will find not only does thinking on this way life your mood and make he live a more positive life, but the universe listens and will send you more of life's good stuff.

Last night's full moon energy is still pretty strong. Feeling restless? Livelier than usual? Finding it hard to concentrate? That's some Wolf Moon energy right there...they call it 'lunacy' for a reason!

If you didn't get a chance last night, take some time tonight to spoil yourself. Write down or think about what you are grateful for. Listen to sacred sounds or affirmations, burn incense and light candles, or have a rosebud filled ritual bath by candlelight - and visualise what you want to have achieved by the next full moon.

As we now move into the waning phase of the moon, it's the best time to release what no longer serves you, so look at your morning and nighttime routines or watch out for unhealthy influences in your life.

The next 'big' moon phase is the new moon in 2 weeks, so get releasing - you can write what you wish to release on a small piece of paper and burn it (safely) to release it into the universe - and get a clear mental space ready to start manifesting what you desire with the coming new moon...

Er, OK, so I sound pretty wierd, but let me tell you, I am LOVING my cold showers now!

As the course progresses you go from turning your hot shower freezing cold, to getting directly into an icy shower for 90 seconds - it makes you rather vocal!!!

The breathing is going well too - this time 2 rounds, which I actually found helpful with my retentions.

Feeling generally great!!

Day 2 of The Wellness Project.

Loving the infectious enthusiasm of Wim Hof.

After yesterday's first freezing shower for 60 seconds, today we focused on the deep breathing.

So simple, can make you feel light headed but full of life. 30 DEEP breaths in through the mouth - belly, chest and head - then exhale around 70 percent of of the mouth.

Get into a rhythm, you can literally feel the prana, the energy force of thy breath, flowing through you, then on the last breath, exhale FULLY, but SLOWLY.

Then hold.

This retention is where the magic happens. It can take a while to be able to hold for 60 seconds and beyond - I'm at about 30 - but with practice you train your respitory system and will be able to hold that magical state, the space between spaces, and the benefits are not only physical but also emotional and spiritual.

OK, so I've always been into exploring new ways of bettering your life and the lives of others, with inner work, self work and basically exploring how we can live better, healthier, more connected lives during our time on the planet.

So, I'm going to explore as many wellness methods as I can in 2021 - to keep my energy focused on positivity while the world finds a way to return to 'normality'.

My first is following the amazing Wim Hof Method. Wim is also known as the Ice Man, as he has broken many world records for his ability to endure extreme cold and ice.

Through his discovery of how extreme cold affects the respiratory system, he harnessed these effects to create a breathwork system which accesses the deepest parts of the brain.

The Wim Hof Method combines deep breathing and cold therapy, to help balance mood and emotions. Amazingly, it also alters the biochemistry of the body by alkalizing the blood, increasing oxygen, and connecting and activating the nervous system.

So, watch this space for tales on the start of my Wellness Project - following The Ice Man and exploring the Wim Hof Method. 🥶😉

𝚁𝚎𝚊𝚕 𝚃𝚊𝚕𝚔!!!

𝚂𝚝𝚘𝚙 𝚋𝚛𝚎𝚊𝚔𝚒𝚗𝚐 𝚙𝚛𝚘𝚖𝚒𝚜𝚎𝚜 𝚝𝚘 𝚢𝚘𝚞𝚛𝚜𝚎𝚕𝚏!

So it's that time of year again, we start full of promises to ourselves and the coming year, and more often than not, all your good intentions are out of the window before February.

This time last year I was in India studying to be a yoga teacher, full of plans and promises which covid (and my own reaction to it, but that's a whole other post) well and truly scuppered.

So this year I have decided I will not be beaten by what the year throws at me, and that starts with not breaking my promises - to myself (or anyone else.)

I've invested in a legend planner - trust me you need this in your life - and am planning myself into greatness for this year and beyond.

Watch this space as I start putting it all into action... Lots of wonderful things await... 🌟🧚‍♀️💜

A rather unsteady chakrasana - wheel pose - with my toes slipping in the sand...

Seems like forever ago, rather than summer of this very strange year, and now in these wet, cold and dark days of winter, I look forward to practicing yoga in nature in a brighter, positive new year.

I pray 2021 has plenty of happiness in store for us all...
