Hello 👋, Gilly here!

Just a wee update to share, as many of you know, I’ve now headed off on maternity leave, ready to welcome our second little one into the world likely sometime soon.

A heartfelt thanks to everyone who has joined me recently at classes, courses and chosen to work with me for private support, especially over the past few months. It’s always a privilege to support you through this journey, but even more special to be experiencing pregnancy again for myself and getting to share these milestones with each other and the luxury of having our fab community to tap into.

Instead of winding down the past few months I’ve been ramping up, with June and early July being an especially busy months, trying to accommodate in as much as possible before I headed off for some maternity leave.

I’m really sorry if you’ve missed out now that I’ve wrapped up, but fear not, I will be back in a few months time once I’ve enjoyed some recovery and family time.

Keep a look out for some informal meet-ups before then for a wee coffee morning and other catch ups. I’d love to stay connected.

In the meantime mum life has continued for me (maternity leave is not quite the same this time around being a toddler mum already, haha!) but we’ve now aced toilet skills for my toddler and also celebrated his 3rd birthday with lots of wee celebrations - I can’t quite believe my little Rory is now 3.

All of which has been grand to have this time before life changes again to a new norm as a family of 4.

Thank you for everyone’s well wishes and I am sharing these back to so many of you who have recently welcomed your own little one or are expecting very soon 🧡.

An update from me, as well as upcoming classes and courses from May-July 2025.

If you’ve attended some classes or a course with me recently, you will know that I am expecting my second baby, likely arriving in the summertime.

Due to this I’ll be wrapping up for maternity leave and will be taking a pause from classes for a little while to soak up the newborn snuggles and have some recovery and family time as we navigate life as a family of 4 ❤️.

So if you’d like to join me for a class or course before then, I’d love to welcome you there soon!

Happy Mother’s Day!

I’ve been keeping a little secret, Mother’s Day this year is a special one for me, as I am delighted to share I am pregnant and expecting my second baby, coming likely sometime over the summer. As the candle says, growing a tiny human ✨.

On a side note, being pregnant and being a toddler mum… a humbling and tiring experience, but filled with lots of love and a little bit chaos!

Although I have been working hard running my classes and courses as normal and keeping disruptions to a minimum, this time round has been a tougher pregnancy (hello sickness until 20 weeks!). So thank you so much for your patience and understanding, particularly around new enquiries and bookings, as my replies and admin have not been as quick as I would normally like them to be. But should be more slicker going forward as things settle.

As always I am very grateful to you for your support, it’s been the busiest quarter ever and so lovely to have met lots of mum-to-be, mums and families over the past few months.

A huge thanks to my clients who have been very kind in checking in with me as we are journeying together.

So on this Mother’s Day, I hope you all know how amazing you are as a mum, have a wonderful day celebrating you.

Non-medical pain relief for labour

There are lots of ‘alternative’ pain relief options that can be used for labour, often they can be really effective to help reduce anxiety, pain and help boost the all important hormones for birth - like Oxytocin.

Some of these tools/techniques might be:
🌼 Visualisations
🌼 Freedom of movement
🌼 Breathing techniques
🌼 Affirmations
🌼 Wooden comb (on acupressure points)
🌼 Your environment
🌼 Aromatherapy
🌼 Massage and counterpressure

Many families I work with hope to build up a toolkit of skills that they can tap into on the day, if that feels right for them. Of course many of these can be used in connection with medical/pharmacological options if preferred too.

From setting up an environment that feels safe and calming, to hands on techniques like massage, my Hypnobirthing antenatal course covers all of the above and more.

It can really help couples (or birth partners) feel like they can help in lots different ways.

My goody bag to couples on the course also includes some things, like an aromatherapy oil, tea-lights, comb and affirmation cards to kick-start off a little kit for your birth bag.

With it being January it seemed good timing to say hello again and offer a wee introduction/re-intro now we are into the New Year, so hello! I’m Gilly, founder of Mama Wellbeing Co and it’s lovely to have you here.

I am a mama to a little boy called Rory (and a cat called Klaus). I’m a lover of learning and I am frequently delving into a course or reading a book about birth/postpartum. I’m a bit of a self-confessed birth geek. Some other things you might not know about me are:
🌸 I’m named after my mums midwife
🌸 My background is in nursing, health visiting and teaching/education (for nurses, midwives etc)

Despite all that, the most important learning in everything has been working with women and families over the past 11 years and listening to what’s important to them.

What are my goals here?

My role is to share information and offer classes that nurtures your self trust and supports your decision making.

My philosophy here is that you are the expert on your body and baby. I want you to feel strong, capable, confident and surrounded by support.

My courses and classes are rooted in understanding the physiology of birth, however I’m not here to ‘push’ a particular way to birth or parent. It’s very much about listening to what feels right for you and your baby.

🌼 Mum & baby yoga
🌼 Hypnobirthing & antenatal courses (both group and private sessions available)

I have a wee waitlist for pregnancy yoga & mum and baby yoga currently, so if you’d like to join in the coming weeks/months please drop me a message and I can reserve a future date/place for you.

My next group Hypnobirthing course is in March, and some places are still available, though I’d recommended booking early to secure a place. New bookings for 1-2-1 Hypnobirthing private sessions are available too, available from around Feb onwards.

Happy January! Pregnancy yoga returns tonight, Monday 6th Jan. Looking forward to seeing many of you there.

*Waitlist Update* A little note to new clients hoping to come along to a pregnancy yoga class with me, I have introduced a waitlist at the moment, with start dates from around Feb/March.

I’ve had a wee influx in bookings for pregnancy yoga over the past few months (congratulations everyone!) and want everyone to have a relaxed and positive experience of the class, so I hope you understand that at times I may have to pause new bookings temporarily until there is availability.

I feel very privileged to be in the position where I have a waitlist so thank you for your understanding, patience and allowing me to be a small part of your pregnancy journey.

Anyone already booked and coming along, or have start date agreed - your space is still reserved - the wait for Feb/March dates are for new clients contacting from now.

Once you begin classes, your space is kept until around your EDD - you are so welcome to continue to class as long as you feel able to/as long as you would like to. Of course you let me know at any point before then if you are no longer able to attend.

If you’d like to join a future class, please get in touch early if possible to book in so I can secure your place.

I am looking forward to returning for mum & baby yoga this Friday 10th - welcoming back retuning clients and new mums & babies for the next block.

There are only two places remaining for this upcoming block:

I have one space left for the morning block (11am-12)

&

One space left for the afternoon block (1pm-2)

Both blocks begin this Friday 10th January.

On maternity leave and looking to join a class that benefits both you and baby?

I have a couple of spaces remaining for the morning or afternoon for my mum & baby yoga class.

You and your little one are most welcome to join, our next block begins 10th January. No previous yoga experience needed.

Enjoy some movement, relaxation and fun with your little one, with a focus on postpartum healing.

And of course welcome to stay after class for a cuppa and mum chat, which is very important too!
