Dearest dad, you taught me so many things, here are just a few -

- How to catch minnows in the river Windrush.
- How to be fascinated by creepy crawlies, not afraid of them.
- How to make a very satisfying noise by blowing on a blade of grass.
- How to identify garden birds, trees, and nature.
- How many beans make five (1 bean, 2 beans, a bean and a half, and half a bean).
- What’s the difference is between a duck (one of its legs is both the same).

And, when I was old enough
- How to really appreciate a good single malt whisky.

On my journey back home last night I popped into the pub and had a whisky in your honour (Talisker, I’m sure you’d have approved). When someone asked if I was ok, I cried, so they bought me another whisky and the customers toasted you.
