In play therapy, children are given their own time and space to explore freely, fostering a sense of autonomy and safety within the therapeutic relationship. Beneath the surface of play, unconscious feelings, internal conflicts, and relational patterns often emerge symbolically, offering a glimpse into the child’s inner world.

Through metaphors and symbolic expression, psychodynamic play therapy allows children to revisit early experiences, test out new roles, and process emotions that may not yet have words. The therapist remains attuned and reflective, holding the child’s experiences, helping to bring what is hidden into awareness, and supporting a path toward integration and healing. Thankyou for a beautiful quote 🙏🏻

”Feels like my arm’s been cut off. There’s blood everywhere. There should be doctors suturing everything—but they can’t, because they can’t see anything. The bleeding is invisible.”
— Marcus, Ginny & Georgia, Season 3

This monologue floored me. Raw, painful, honest. Marcus has always carried the weight of depression in silence, but this scene like his monologue in season 2 gave it a voice — and it’s one that so many will recognise.

Ginny & Georgia continues to tackle the hard stuff: depression, self-harm, domestic violence, trauma, anxiety. And it does so with nuance and care. It doesn’t glamorize pain. It sits with it. It gives it context. It makes it visible.

What Marcus says here? It matters. So many suffer in silence because their wounds aren’t seen. But invisible doesn’t mean unreal.

If you’re struggling: you are not alone. There is help. There is hope. 💙

Change doesn’t happen overnight.
It’s the small steps. The quiet effort.
The choice to keep going—especially when it’s hard.

Believe in yourself.
Be consistent.
That’s how transformation begins. 🌱✨

🧠 June is Men’s Mental Health Month
Let’s break the silence. Let’s break the stigma.

💬 In the UK:
🔹 1 in 8 men experience mental health difficulties
🔹 Men are less likely to seek support or speak openly about their emotions
🔹 3 in 4 su***des are by men – su***de remains the leading cause of death for men under 50

At Plays2Talk, we believe:
💙 Emotions aren’t weakness
💙 Asking for help is a strength
💙 Boys need to grow up knowing it’s safe to feel, talk, and connect

This month—and always—let’s:
👂 Listen without judgement
🤝 Check in, even if they seem “fine”
🧩 Create spaces where men and boys feel seen, heard, and supported

Whether it’s a father, brother, son, friend, or partner—
Be the reason someone feels safe to open up.

From a therapy perspective I absolutely love this, from a teacher perspective is this achievable with the expectations, lack of support and funding? This is the goal, this is what the children deserve…. How do we support each other in getting here? If we knew the whole story…we would discover that every behavior has a meaning behind it….and many times it would break our heart. At the very least, it would change how we see and treat children. “Yesterday’s parent/carer support group session was a success! With such positive feedback. As part of my role as the Mental Health and Wellbeing Practitioner at Bolder it is a privilege to run these half-termly sessions to support parents and carers in a safe and collaborative space. We explored strategies like the PACE model to better understand and support our children’s behaviours. Thank you to all the parents who joined – your openness and commitment to creating positive change is truly inspiring. I’m excited for our next session! ! Bolder Academy supporting the children, carers and staff 🙏🏻 /csrerSupport

When you are grieving, occasions like Mother’s Day with their big build-up in the shops and in the media, can be a painful reminder of your loss, and how much you are missing the person who has died.
